Introduction: High-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions are caused by persistent high-risk human papillomavirus (hr-HPV) infections and are subdivided into cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) lesions: CIN II (moderate) and CIN III (severe). Current treatment options for CIN II include large loop excision of the transformation zone, imiquimod and expectant management. Each treatment option has its drawbacks, and therefore, a non-invasive treatment is desirable.

DNA gyrase is a target for treating tuberculosis caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Many cases of antibiotic resistance have been reported due to different point mutations in the Chain A of DNA gyrase. Based on literature information on drug-resistance related study for DNA gyrase, we generated 4 different mutant models 3ILW_G88A, 3ILW_G88C, 3ILW_D94G, and 3ILW_D94H by inserting two mutations at each position 88 and 94 in DNA gyrase chain A.

Bacterial biofilm infections cause huge cases of morbidity and mortality globally. Cells in bacterial biofilms can easily overcome host immune response and become resistant to conventional antibiotics. Hence, the concurrent issues of biofilm infections demand the urgent development of new therapeutic strategies other than the conventional antibiotic treatment.

In this study, a structurally directed pharmacophore hybridization technique is used to combine the two essential structural scaffolds coumarin and thiazoles in search of a new class of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BuChE) inhibitor for Alzheimer's disease (AD). A library of 120 compounds was designed in two series 5a(1-15), 5b(16-30), 5c(31-45), 5d(46-60), and 6a(61-75), 6b(76-90), 6c(91-105), 6d(106-120) using various substituted phenol, β-ketoesters, and thiazole derivatives. Eleven compounds were identified as potential hybrids using molecular property filter analysis and molecular docking studies, and they comprise N-substituted thiazole coumarin derivatives.

Sorghum hybrids demonstrated increased productivity and helped offset the decreasing cultivated areas, particularly in Asia. The diversity in cytoplasmic male sterility systems, stability of restorers and high yield of sorghum is an important factor for achieving food security and sustainability. In sorghum, hybrid production has been limited to A1 cytoplasmic source to date, primarily due to limited number of restorers on other cytoplasmic sources.

Germination is an essential phenomenon in the life cycle of plants, and a variety of external and internal factors influence it. Fire and the produced smoke have been vital environmental stimulants for the germination of seeds in many plant species, like Leucospermum cordifolium and Serruria florida. These plants do not germinate at all if fire and smoke are not present.

Purpose: More than 20 genetically modified (GM) food crops including rice have been approved in many countries. GM rice and derived products have not yet been approved in India so they are considered as unauthorized genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in the country. Therefore it is important to track whether the rice containing food items, available in the marketplace are GMO-free.

Background: Immunomodulation is the modification of immune responses to control disease progression. While the synthetic immunomodulators have proven efficacy, they are coupled with toxicity and other adverse effects, and hence, the efforts were to identify natural phytochemicals with immunomodulatory potential.
Objective: To understand the immunomodulatory properties of various phytochemicals and investigate them in species extracts using an approach.

Saliva components combine with oral cavity microorganisms, blood cells, and airway secretions after entering the oral cavity via salivary ducts; these factors provide relevant information about persons' health state, quality of life, and lifestyle, in addition to their age and gender due to which salivary microbiome has emerged as a subject of significant interest in the forensic domain. This study aims to provide an extensive review of the possible applications of the salivary microbiome in characterizing the habit-specific microbiomes. Thirty-three relevant articles were selected for inclusion in this study.

Human thymidylate synthase is the rate-limiting enzyme in the synthesis of 2'-deoxythymidine-5'-monophosphate. dUMP (pyrimidine) and folate binding site hTS inhibitors showed resistance in colorectal cancer (CRC). In the present study, we have performed virtual screening of the pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine database, followed by binding free energy calculations, and pharmacophore mapping to design novel pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine derivatives to stabilize inactive confirmation of hTS.

Cancer is a major cause of deaths across the globe due to chemoresistance and lack of selective chemotherapy. Pyrido[2,3-]pyrimidine is an emerging scaffold in medicinal chemistry having a broad spectrum of activities, including antitumor, antibacterial, CNS depressive, anticonvulsant, and antipyretic activities. In this study, we have covered different cancer targets, including tyrosine kinase, extracellular regulated protein kinases - ABL kinase, phosphatidylinositol-3 kinase, mammalian target of rapamycin, p38 mitogen-activated protein kinases, BCR-ABL, dihydrofolate reductase, cyclin-dependent kinase, phosphodiesterase, KRAS and fibroblast growth factor receptors, their signaling pathways, mechanism of action and structure-activity relationship of pyrido[2,3-]pyrimidine derivatives as inhibitors of the above-mentioned targets.
