Exploration of Inertial Sensor-Derived Kinematic Predictors for Dynamic Balance Assessment in the Active Adult.

Purpose: The modified Star Excursion Balance Test (mSEBT) is a clinical tool for dynamic balance assessment. While researchers have examined individual joint kinematic predictors of dynamic balance performance, limited data exist on body and joint sway during the test execution. Further investigation of kinematic predictors' influence on dynamic balance is needed to improve assessment methodologies.

Removal of subretinal proliferative vitreoretinopathy: case series and literature review.

Background: To present the results of a simplified technique for removing subretinal proliferation bands (SPB) using membrane forceps and a vitrectomy aspiration cutter.

Methods: Retrospective interventional case series.

Results: Out of 241 eyes (241 patients), 31 (13%) had SPB detected preoperatively or intraoperatively and underwent pars plana vitrectomy with SPB removal using membrane forceps and an aspiration cutter.

Effect of Silk-Fibroin-Coated Polydioxanone Biodegradable Enteric Stents on the Degradation Rate.

Biodegradable enteric stents have limited use in benign enteric stricture due to the short degradation time. Silk fibroin (SF) coating on polydioxanone (PDO) has been proposed to extend the degradation rate. PDO stents and yarn were coated with SF solution by using the dip-coating method.

Long Shelf-Life Ready-to-Eat Plant-Based Whole Hard-Boiled Eggs: Low Allergenic and Regular Formulas.

This study aimed to develop a shelf-stable, plant-based whole hard-boiled egg analogue, available in both regular and low-allergenic versions. Six plant proteins-soy, mung bean, pea, rice, potato, and wheat-were formulated into egg white and yolk components, with mung bean and wheat proteins showing the most promising sensory and visual qualities. Two preservation methods, thermal pasteurization (75-85 °C, 15-20 min) and gamma irradiation (2-5 kGy), were applied to extend shelf life while maintaining product quality.

Background: Postoperative surgical site infections (SSIs) in neurosurgery remain a significant concern due to their associated high morbidity and mortality. Consequently, implementing the most effective preventive measures is essential. One such strategy, intraoperative antibiotic irrigation, has been widely employed; however, its efficacy continues to be debated.

AngioReport: dataset and baseline methods for fundus angiography report generation.

Purpose: To develop an annotated fundus angiographic dataset, including fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA) and indocyanine green angiography (ICGA), and establish baseline methods for automatic report generation.

Methods: This retrospective study reviewed patients aged ≥18 years who underwent FFA or ICGA at Rajavithi Hospital, Thailand, between 1 January and 31 December 2019. A total of 55 361 de-identified images from 1691 patients (3179 eyes) were annotated by retinal specialists with detailed descriptions of the type, location, shape, size and pattern of abnormal fluorescence.

Background: Optic neuritis (ON) is an inflammatory condition of the optic nerve that can lead to significant visual impairment. It is often associated with multiple sclerosis (MS) but can also occur in other demyelinating diseases, such as neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) and myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody disease (MOGAD). Antistatic and anti-flame biodegradable polymer composites were developed by melt-blending polybutylene succinate (PBS) with epoxy resin, polybutylene adipate-co-terephthalate (PBAT), and MgO particles. The composite films were prepared using a two-roll mill and an extrusion-blown film machine. Plasma and sparking techniques were used to improve the antistatic properties of the composites.

Objective: This study aims to evaluate how femoral rotation affects the neck-shaft angle (NSA) in 3D imaging and to compare femoral anteversion measurements along the mechanical axis (AV-MA) and anatomical axis (AV-AA).

Methods: Thirty embalmed cadaveric femurs were CT scanned to measure anatomical parameters. A 3D model was created for each femur, and the mechanical, shaft, and neck axes were defined.

Advancements in Nanotherapeutics for the Treatment of Depression via Intranasal Pathway: A Review.

Depression is a complex psychiatric disorder marked by persistent emotional disturbances such as sadness, hopelessness, and fatigue, frequently accompanied by psychosocial impairments. Current treatment approaches are hindered by limited efficacy, poor patient adherence, and the inability of many therapeutic agents to effectively penetrate the blood-brain barrier (BBB). The BBB, a selective and protective interface between the bloodstream and brain tissue, restricts drug delivery to the central nervous system (CNS), resulting in suboptimal concentrations of antidepressants at the target site and delayed therapeutic responses.

Poor sleep quality is a predictor of severe hypoglycemia during comprehensive diabetes care in type 1 diabetes.

Purpose: Sleep disturbances is common in type 1 diabetes (T1D) and can be associated with poor glycemic control, and possibly hypoglycemia. This study aims to investigate whether poor sleep quality, as assessed by the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), was associated with glycemic control or severe hypoglycemia in T1D individuals.

Methods: This one-year prospective cohort study included 221 (148 F/63 M) T1D participants (aged ≥ 13 years), receiving intensive insulin therapy.

Concomitant pyogenic atlantoaxial spondylodiscitis alongside retropharyngeal abscesses, in conjunction with tuberculous spondylodiscitis manifesting as gibbus deformity, represents a rare but significant clinical entity. This dual infectious process poses considerable risks and can lead to severe, life-threatening complications if not appropriately managed. We present an atypical case of a 6-year-old Thai boy with concurrent pyogenic atlantoaxial spondylodiscitis, retropharyngeal abscesses, and tuberculous spondylodiscitis at the T6 to T8 levels, leading to a progressive kyphotic deformity.

Outcome of Detachable Balloon Embolization in Traumatic Carotid Cavernous Fistula.

 This article evaluates the outcomes and efficacy of detachable balloon embolization by single balloon delivery catheter, while identifying factors associated with successful embolization in traumatic carotid cavernous fistula (TCCF) patients.  We retrospectively collected data of TCCF patients who underwent detachable balloon embolization during March 2020 to April 2024. All cases utilized a single balloon delivery catheter for detachable balloon deployment (GOLDBAL, BALT Extrusion, France).
