Sacha inchi waste consists of residues (SR) and shells (SS) that are processed into liquid fuel using a traditional pyrolysis process. Pyrolysis was performed at a constant heating rate of 20 °C/min and nitrogen flow rate of 100 mL/min. Before the process took place, a preliminary TGA analysis was performed and the results revealed that the appropriate pyrolysis temperature and time allowed a variation of 250-450 °C and 10-50 min, respectively.

An ultra-fast green synthesis of defective titanium dioxide (TiO) photocatalysts was conducted by the microwave-assisted method using l-ascorbic acid (l-As) as a reducing agent. A new microfluidic thread-based analytical device (μTAD) for nitrate and nitrite determination in food samples was developed. The cotton thread substrate was coated with nanosilica to increase its hydrophilicity and stability, and polylactic acid was applied to one end of the nanosilica-coated thread to constrain the fluid flow along the thread in one direction. Quantification of nitrate and nitrite was based on the modified Griess reaction, using sulfanilamide and N-(1-naphthyl) ethylenediamine as chromogenic reagents, and utilizing a distance-based detection technique.

Anaerobically-treated palm oil mill effluent (POME) still has unacceptable properties for water recycling and reuse, with an unpleasant appearance due to the brownish color caused by tannins and phenolic compounds. This study proposes an approach for treating anaerobically-treated POME for water recycling by combining organic precipitation, electrocoagulation (EC), and ion-exchange resin, followed by reverse osmosis (RO) membrane filtration in series. Seaweeds or marine algae exhibit diverse morphologies, sizes, colors, and chemical compositions, encompassing various species, including red, green, and brown seaweeds. Several seaweeds have received increased research attention and application in animal feeding investigations, particularly in ruminant livestock, due to their higher yield and convenient harvestability at present. Recent endeavors encompassing both in vitro and in vivo experiments have indicated that many seaweeds, particularly red seaweed (Asparagopsis taxiformis and Asparagopsis armata), contain plant secondary compounds, such as halogenated compounds and phlorotannins, with the potential to reduce enteric ruminal methane (CH) emissions by up to 99 % when integrated into ruminant diets.

In this study, the interplay between the structural complexity, microstructure, and mechanical properties of calcium phosphates (CaPs) derived from fish bones, prepared at various calcination temperatures, and their corresponding sintered ceramics was explored. Fourier-transform infrared analysis revealed that the calcined powders primarily consisted of hydroxyapatite (HAp) and carbonated calcium hydroxyapatite, with an increasing concentration of Mg-substituted β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) as the calcination temperature was increased. X-ray diffraction patterns showed enhanced sharpness of the peaks at higher temperatures, indicating a larger crystallite size and improved crystallinity.
