Background: Typically, when choosing a size for a child’s laryngeal mask airway (LMA), weight is considered; however, this approach has limitations. This study evaluated the efficacy of ultrasonography (US) measured hyomental distance (HMD) compared to weight-based criteria for optimizing the selection of LMA size in pediatrics.
Methods: This randomized controlled trial included 60 children aged 3–14 years scheduled for surgery requiring LMA.

Recently, global warming and climate change knowledge and sustainability attitudes have gained prominence in nursing education; however, studies are scarce about how eco-anxiety moderates between these associations. This study explored the moderating role of nursing students' eco-anxiety between global warming knowledge and sustainability attitudes. Utilising a cross-sectional and correlational design, nursing students (n = 561) were recruited via consecutive sampling between November 2024 and February 2025.

Background: Human papillomavirus infection (HPV) is a highly prevalent sexually transmitted infection worldwide. HPV is responsible for about 70% of all worldwide cervical cancer incidence. Culture plays a critical role in shaping female perceptions and awareness of the HPV vaccine, influencing both individual and community-level health behaviors.

AI-powered chatbots are increasingly used in health education due to their 24/7 availability, personalization, and interactivity. However, empirical evidence on their effectiveness in enhancing knowledge, empowerment, and attitudes in oncology settings remains limited.

Progress in molecular medicine has resulted in novel cancer therapies, with microRNAs (miRNAs) recognized as promising instruments for cancer detection and treatment. MicroRNAs are tiny non-coding RNA sequences that manipulate gene expression at the post-transcriptional stage and are involved in cellular differentiation and death. miR-32-5p demonstrates oncogenic activity in several cancers, while c-MYC oncogene is a well-known driver of cancer, promoting tumor growth by stimulating cell proliferation, blocking apoptosis, and suppressing immune responses.

Background: Refractory angina is a challenging medical disorder associated with continuous anginal symptoms that do not respond to medical treatments or revascularization interventions. Coronary sinus reducer (CSR) has been introduced as a promising treatment option for patients with refractory angina. However, the avaliable evidence regarding the exact role of CSR in managing refractory angina is still inconclusive and limited by several factors, such as small sample size studies, and short follow up periods.

Background Pancreatic injury is a rare but serious complication of radical nephrectomy. The best management strategy for this complication, either conservative or surgical, remains debated, with limited comparative data. Objective To compare conservative management (CM) (drain placement, nutritional support, or somatostatin analogs) with surgical management (SM) (direct pancreatic repair, surgical drainage procedures, or partial pancreatectomy) in terms of outcomes, hospital stay, and mortality.

As aging leads to a decline in muscle mass, strength, and functional capacity, identifying effective, low-risk interventions for older adults is essential. Blood flow restriction training (BFRT) has gained recognition as a potential substitute for traditional high-load resistance training, offering comparable benefits with reduced mechanical stress. This scoping review explores current BFRT protocols-specifically cuff pressure, training frequency, and duration-and their impact on muscular strength, hypertrophy, and functional capabilities among healthy elderly individuals.

Monosodium glutamate (MSG)-induced excitotoxicity is a major factor contributing to cognitive decline and neurodegeneration. Given the well-established roles of vitamin D (Vit D) and omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (N-3 PUFAs), especially eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), in neuroprotection, the present study aimed at analyzing their possible neuroprotective efficacy against MSG-induced neurotoxicity in rats, concerning the behavioral performance, hippocampal histological integrity, and pathological protein accumulation, along with determination of the inflammatory marker levels and mRNA expression of vitamin D receptors (VDR) and other neurodegeneration-related genes. Fifty male Sprague Dawley rats were randomly allocated to a control, an MSG, and three treatment groups that received MSG and either Vit D or N-3 PUFA supplements in combinations or alone for 4 weeks.

Background: Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) is crucial in bariatric surgery for detecting gastro-esophageal conditions and incidental pathologies, impacting surgical decisions and outcomes. The International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO) recommends routine EGD before and after bariatric procedures to identify incidental pathologies. However, global adherence to these guidelines varies, especially in resource-constrained settings where economic limitations often dictate practice patterns.

It is essential to comprehend the humoral immune response to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) and its vaccines to maximize the effectiveness of anti-SARSCoV-2 community immunization efforts. The aim of this cross-sectional study was to determine the seroprevalence of anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgM/IgG among newcomer students at Kafr Elsheikh University in Egypt, whether they had been vaccinated or not. Blood samples from 400 healthy newcomer students (200 non-vaccinated and 200 vaccinated) were evaluated for the presence of anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgM/IgG using colloidal gold immunochromatography lateral flow immunoassay cards, and then the results were confirmed by using specific ELISA tests.
