Natural phytoconstituents such as betanin and curcumin have attracted interest for their significant antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Their therapeutic efficacy is notably constrained by inadequate bioavailability and reduced skin permeability. The current study developed an ethosome-based gel system for the delivery of betanin and curcumin, with the objective of improving transdermal penetration and providing sustained anti-inflammatory effects.

A regioselective C2-alkynylation of indoles ruthenium(II)-catalyzed C-H activation using bromoalkynes is demonstrated under both solution-phase and mechanochemical conditions. The solvent-minimized mechanochemical method delivers comparable yields with reduced reaction time and improved green metrics. Broad substrate scope, gram-scale applicability, and post-functionalization showcase the synthetic utility of this approach.

The mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway-also known as the RAS/RAF/MEK/ERK pathway-is a critical signalling cascade involved in regulating cell growth, proliferation, and survival. First discovered in the early 1980s, the pathway's extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) subfamily was identified in the 1990s. The ERK family includes several isoforms-ERK1, ERK2, ERK3, ERK5, and ERK6-with ERK1 (MAPK3) and ERK2 (MAPK1) being the most well-characterised and playing central roles in MAPK signalling.

Bismuth ferrite (BiFeO) is a semiconductor with multiferroic properties, synthesized by the sol-gel method. While static high-pressure studies have advanced our understanding of the phase behavior of BiFeO, the effects of dynamic pressure acoustic shock waves remain unexplored. In this study, BiFeO was subjected to 100 shock pulses with 0.

The UFD-1 (ubiquitin fusion degradation 1)-NPL-4 (nuclear protein localization homolog 4) heterodimer is involved in extracting ubiquitinated proteins from several plasma membrane locations, including the endoplasmic reticulum. This heterodimer complex helps in the degradation of ubiquitinated proteins via the proteasome with the help of the AAA+ATPase CDC-48. While the ubiquitin-proteasome system is known to have important roles in maintaining innate immune responses, the role of the UFD-1-NPL-4 complex in regulating immunity remains elusive.

Introduction: Night Eating Syndrome (NES) is a distinct psychopathological entity variously considered as a mental health disorder, eating disorder or circadian rhythm disorder. Medical students are faced with hectic schedules, sleep interruptions and high-stakes exams as they become healthcare providers. Such social factors coupled with poor dietary practices may impact their mental health and biological clocks, leading to NES amongst this population.

The unregulated use and improper disposal of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), particularly phenylbutazone (PBZ), are contaminating water resources and posing serious risks to the food chain. PBZ is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) commonly used for treating pain and fever in animals, and its persistence in the environment due to inadequate waste management has become a cause of concern. To address this, we report the fabrication of benzimidazole-based self-assembled nanomicelles (R2 NMs) for selective detection and removal of PBZ.

This work presents a gas-phase experimental study on the reduction of NO (nitrogen dioxide) to HONO (nitrous acid) by two atmospherically significant volatile organic compounds (VOCs), namely, glycolaldehyde (Gla) and hydroxyacetone (HAc), under a simulated tropospheric condition. FTIR spectroscopic probing reveals that HONO is the only gaseous reduced product of NO in each reaction. The measured data indicate that the reactions in both cases occur in a 2 : 1 stoichiometry with respect to NO and Gla/HAc.

Lung cancer remains one of the most fatal cancers, with cigarette smoke (CS) exposure being a major risk factor due to its role in triggering oxidative stress. Disruption of circadian rhythms, increasingly common in modern lifestyles, has also been linked to cancer progression. Targeting both oxidative imbalance and circadian disruption may offer a more effective therapeutic approach.

The design of a rare combination of interpenetrated and catenated 3D+2D→3D MOF {[Cd(dim)(dht)(HO)](Sol)} (1), with a unique network and extreme pH stability, has been developed for exceptional ionic conduction across a wide range of temperature and humidity conditions. The bare pore derivative of 1 (1') features remarkable structural flexibility and large pores accessible to encapsulate molecules such as NH, HCl, and KOH, enabling it to function as an efficient conductor for both proton and hydroxide ions. 1' demonstrates substantial thermal-influenced proton conductivity of 4.

Achieving superior energy storage performance in dielectric materials under low electric fields remains a challenge. Most recent advancements require high fields that limit device applicability. Developing dielectric capacitors with high recoverable energy density (W), efficiency (η), and energy-storage coefficient (W/E) at low/moderate fields is critical for safer, compact, and durable electronics.

The dynamics of the aggregated light-harvesting complex (LHCII) associated with its antenna pigments can be crucial for a transition between light-harvesting and dissipative states, which is pivotal for nonphotochemical quenching (NPQ). To this end, aggregation of pigment-binding LHCII monomers and PsbS-associated trimers in neutral and low lumenal pH respectively, has been investigated when embedded in the plant thylakoid membranes, using coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulations. Both pigment-binding LHCII monomers and PsbS-associated trimers dynamically form and break dimers and higher-order aggregates in thylakoids within the simulation time.

Mediastinal masses often present acutely as medical emergencies, necessitating prompt and accurate diagnosis. Imaging-guided fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) plays a pivotal role in rapidly identifying rare mediastinal tumours and differentiating them from other potential aetiologies, enabling timely intervention. Primary mediastinal germ cell tumours (PMGCTs) constitute approximately 15% of adult mediastinal neoplasms.

Introduction: Differentiating acute tubular necrosis (ATN) from rejection in pediatric kidney transplant (KT) recipients remains challenging and necessitates invasive biopsy. Doppler ultrasound-derived resistive index (RI) is a noninvasive modality to assess graft status, but its diagnostic utility in children is unclear. This study evaluates RI's ability to distinguish ATN and rejection in KT.

Introduction: Simple screening tools are critical for assessing Alzheimer's disease (AD)-related pre-dementia changes. This study investigated longitudinal scores from the Quick Dementia Rating System (QDRS), a brief study partner-reported measure, in relation to baseline levels of the AD biomarker plasma pTau217 in individuals unimpaired at baseline.
Methods: Data from the Wisconsin Registry for Alzheimer's Prevention (N = 639) were used to examine whether baseline plasma pTau217 (ALZpath assay on Quanterix platform) modified QDRS or Preclinical Alzheimer's Cognitive Composite (PACC3) trajectories (mixed-effects models; time = age).
