Background: BCMA-directed chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapy represents a major therapeutic breakthrough for relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM), offering deep and durable responses in heavily pretreated patients. However, a subset of patients experience early relapse or fail to respond, highlighting the need for strategies to enhance efficacy. Gamma-secretase inhibitors (GSIs) have been shown to increase surface BCMA expression on malignant plasma cells and may potentiate the activity of BCMA CAR-T cells, particularly in patients with low baseline BCMA antigen density.

Genetic selection and optimization of broiler breeder flocks have been key drivers of growth, making the maintenance of their health and performance essential both for chick production and for the long-term sustainability of the industry. Despite the high importance of broiler breeder flocks, no systematic bibliometric study has yet been conducted that specifically focuses on research in this area.

Applications of electron channeling pattern for the determination of wafer offcut and misorientation angles.

The epitaxial growth of semiconductor multilayers often starts from monocrystalline wafers that have an offcut angle. This offcut angle is critical for tailoring the properties of epitaxial materials, making its precise control essential. This study demonstrates a novel approach to determine the wafer offcut angle based on electron channeling patterns (ECP) obtained by scanning electron microscopy.

Exploring interactions in microbial communities.

Most microbial ecosystems cannot be understood without quantifying ecological interactions between their member species. Given the challenges of comprehensively resolving interactions experimentally, a range of prediction methods was developed. Here, we review genome-based prediction methods in particular and discuss their strengths and weaknesses.

Background: This study, conducted among collection and transplant centers in France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom (UK), and the United States (USA), aimed to better understand current trends, challenges, and future directions in cell collection and apheresis practices, focusing on the Spectra Optia™ Apheresis System.

Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted from July to November 2023 among facilities using the Spectra Optia™ Apheresis System, which could also be using other comparable cell collection technologies, with expertise in cell collection and therapeutics. Respondents completed an online questionnaire.

Anomalous hydration of glycolipid ohmline revealed by surface-specific vibrational spectroscopy.

Glycolipids are key structural and functional components of biological membranes, yet their interfacial hydration behavior remains poorly understood. Here, we use vibrational heterodyne-detected sum-frequency generation (HD-SFG) spectroscopy to probe the molecular structure of the air-water interface formed by monolayers of ohmline, a glycolipid bearing a lactose headgroup and carrying no formal charge. Upon electrolyte addition, we observe a striking reorientation of interfacial water and a reversal of the HD-SFG signal, indicative of apparent surface charging by an otherwise neutral headgroup.

This review article, developed by the EASD Global Council, addresses the growing global challenges in diabetes research and care, highlighting the rising prevalence of diabetes, the increasing complexity of its management and the need for a coordinated international response. With regard to research, disparities in funding and infrastructure between high-income countries and low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) are discussed. The under-representation of LMIC populations in clinical trials, challenges in conducting large-scale research projects, and the ethical and legal complexities of artificial intelligence integration are also considered as specific issues.

Predictors of change in sleep disturbance in Canadian long-term care facilities: a longitudinal analysis based on interRAI assessments.

Purpose: Sleep disturbance is prevalent in long-term care facilities (LTCFs), yet there is limited understanding of individual factors predicting changes in sleep within these populations. Our objective was to determine predictors of sleep disturbance in LTCFs and investigate variation in prevalence across facilities in two Canadian provinces-New Brunswick and Saskatchewan.
