The beauty of the respiratory system is that it advects air from the mouth/nose to the deep lung, providing a substrate for the gas exchange needed for life. Due to the close interaction of structure and function, the lungs can deform under very small amounts of pressure. In addition, the lung serves as the first barrier of defense against inhaled toxins. The same biomechanical processes may be used to optimize inhaled therapeutic delivery. This special issue provides a unique collection of original research and review articles focused on respiratory biomechanics in health and disease. Included articles feature topics such as mechanical characterization of lung and organ tissue biomechanics, cell interaction during respiration, modeling of gas and capillary flow, and particle transport and deposition.

Introduction: Topoisomerase (topo) II inhibitors continue to represent a promising approach in anticancer therapy, although their clinical application is hampered by drug resistance and dose limiting toxicities.
Area Covered: We performed a critical analysis of patent literature from January 2016 to January 2025 on topo II inhibitors in oncology using the online databases Espacenet, Wipo, and Google patent.
Expert Opinion: Substantial progress in the development of novel topo II inhibitors through synthetic chemistry, natural product isolation, molecular modification, and in silico screening was recorded.

Primary agricultural products are closely related to our daily lives, as they serve not only as raw materials for food processing but also as products directly purchased by consumers. These products face the issue of freshness decline and spoilage during both production and consumption. Freshness degradation induces sensory deterioration and nutritional loss and promotes harmful substance accumulation, causing gastrointestinal issues or even endangering life.

Purpose: To review the current literature on dorsal penile curvature (DPC) in children, including its etiology, diagnosis, and principles of treatment.
Materials And Methods: A literature review was conducted on DPC in children, focusing on its etiology (e.g.
Purpose Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), the dominant subtype of renal malignancy, has a rising global incidence and mortality. While surgery is the standard of care for localized cases, adjuvant therapy aims to improve outcomes in high-risk postoperative patients. To quantify the clinical value of adjuvant pharmacotherapy, this systematic review and meta-analysis assesses its effect on overall survival (OS), disease-free survival (DFS), and progression-free survival (PFS) in patients with ccRCC.

The timely release of chemical messengers is a crucial step in cell-to-cell communication. Does this release occur as a passive diffusion from the donor membrane or it is actively regulated? A series of studies indicated that chemical messengers' secretion is "sub-quantal". This mode of secretion demands a strongly regulated release mechanism and calls for a thorough characterization of the release sites.
