Scalable and high-throughput platforms to non-invasively record the Action Potentials (APs) of excitable cells are highly demanded to accelerate disease diagnosis and drug discovery. AP recordings are typically achieved with the invasive and low-throughput patch clamp technique. Non-invasive alternatives like planar multielectrode arrays cannot record APs without membrane poration, preventing accurate measurements of disease states and drug effects. Here, we disclose reliable and non-invasive recording of APs with patch clamp-like quality from human stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes using an inkjet-printed polymer semiconductor in an Electrolyte-Gated Field-Effect Transistor configuration. High sensitivity is proven by the detection of drug-induced pro-arrhythmic membrane potential oscillations as early/delayed afterdepolarizations. The higher throughput potential of this platform could significantly enhance disease modelling, drug screening, safety pharmacology and the study of abiotic/biotic interfaces.

Timely and accurate assessment of wounds during the healing process is crucial for proper diagnosis and treatment. Conventional wound dressings lack both real-time monitoring capabilities and active therapeutic functionalities, limiting their effectiveness in dynamic wound environments. Herein, we report our proof-of-concept approach exploring the unique emission properties and antimicrobial activities of carbon nanodots (CNDs) for simultaneous detection and treatment of bacteria.

Liver fibrosis, a pivotal pathological stage in the progression of chronic liver diseases to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma is characterized by liver sinusoidal endothelial cell (LSEC) capillarization, oxidative stress imbalance, and cell pyroptosis. Current clinical interventions show limited efficacy in reversing fibrosis, highlighting the urgent need for novel therapeutic strategies. In this study, we developed an L-arginine-loaded melanin-like nanozyme (L-Arg@MeNPs) that targets liver fibrosis through a triple-action mechanism: (1) sustained nitric oxiderelease from L-Arg restores LSEC fenestration, improving sinusoidal permeability; (2) the MeNPs exhibit catalase/superoxide dismutase-mimicking activity to scavenge reactive oxygen species, thereby blocking the NOD-like receptor pyrin domain-containing 3/caspase-1-mediated pyroptosis pathway; and (3) intrinsic photoacoustic/magnetic resonance dual-modal imaging enables real-time therapeutic monitoring.

Uterine fibroids are prevalent benign tumors of the female reproductive tract that cause significant morbidity. Accumulating evidence suggests an association between vitamin D deficiency and uterine fibroid prevalence. Vitamin D, synthesized through sunlight exposure and obtained from fatty fish and fortified foods, regulates key processes, such as cell proliferation and apoptosis.

Chronic wounds, a critical global health challenge, necessitate advanced solutions to address limitations in current care, such as subjective assessments, uncontrolled drug delivery, and poor integration of diagnosis and treatment. This study introduces a "clinic-in-a-dressing" system that combines in situ pH monitoring with dual-responsive (pH/enzyme) drug delivery for chronic wound management. The system integrates hyaluronic acid (HA)-encapsulated vancomycin-loaded zeolitic imidazolate framework (HZV) nanoparticles and fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) into a nanofiber-reinforced hydrogel sponge.
