Article Abstract

Human epididymis protein 4 (HE4) is increasingly utilized in diagnosing pelvic masses and monitoring patients with ovarian or endometrial carcinoma. However, various publications and diagnostic kit manufacturers report a wide range of reference and threshold values, complicating accurate clinical interpretation and reducing the marker's clinical utility. This study aimed to establish reference values for HE4 in the Bulgarian female population and investigate the impact of physiological factors such as age, menopause, and pregnancy, as well as pathological conditions like impaired renal function, on marker levels.

The research team established a quantitative H NMR method to determine the relative ethoxy content (EO%) in ethylcellulose using a CDCl/TFA-d solvent mixture. High-field NMR spectroscopy enabled direct measurement without the use of internal or external calibrants by integrating the methyl proton signals (δ 1.15 ppm) and the methylene/methine proton signals (δ 2.

Background: Atherosclerosis (AS) is a leading risk factor for cardiovascular diseases globally, characterised by the accumulation of lipids and cholesterol in arterial walls, causing vascular narrowing and sclerosis along with chronic inflammation; this leads to increased risk of heart disease and stroke, significantly impacting patients' health. Danxia Tiaoban Decoction (DXTB), a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula, has demonstrated positive clinical effects in treating AS; however, its mechanisms of action remain unclear.

Objective: To explore the potential mechanisms of action of DXTB in treating AS through multi-omics integration and experimental validation.

Background: Human papillomavirus (HPV) testing is the primary method for cervical cancer screening, but reliable detection depends on adequate sample cellularity. Cycle threshold (Ct) values for the assay's internal control (IC), such as β-globin, are commonly used as proxies for adequacy, yet standardized Ct cut-offs are lacking. We aimed to contribute evidence-based thresholds for sample adequacy using real-world data.

Canine Mdr1 Knockout MDCK Cells Reliably Estimate Human Small Intestinal Permeability () and Fraction Absorbed ().

Mol Pharm

September 2025

Johnson & Johnson, Translational PK/PD & Investigational Toxicology, Spring House, Pennsylvania 19002, United States.

Human intestinal permeability is a key determinant of the oral fraction absorbed () of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). This study evaluated the ability of an in-house canine Mdr1 (cMdr1) knockout (KO) Madin-Darby Canine Kidney (MDCK) cell line to correlate apparent permeability () with human small intestinal permeability (). values of 16 reference compounds with high, medium, or low permeabilities were measured in the in-house cMdr1 KO MDCK protocol under pH gradient (6.

Objectives: Establishing paediatric DRLs is challenging due to sparse data availability. The objective was to assess paediatric fluoroscopic dose levels in Dutch clinical practice, as current diagnostic reference levels (DRLs) need updating following the European Guidelines on DRLs for Paediatric Imaging (PiDRL).

Material And Methods: Air Kerma-area Product (KAP) values were retrospectively collected from paediatric patients (0-18 years) who underwent fluoroscopic procedures in nine Dutch hospitals between 01-01-2017 and 01-06-2021.
