Article Abstract

Background: Post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) significantly hinders functional recovery and quality of life in stroke survivors. Although transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) has emerged as a promising non-invasive neuromodulation technique to improve cognitive function, conventional single-target tDCS approaches often yield inconsistent outcomes across cognitive domains.

Methods: This randomized controlled trial aims to investigate the efficacy and underlying neural mechanisms of dual-target anodal tDCS (a-tDCS) in individuals with PSCI. Sixty participants will be randomly assigned to either a dual-target stimulation group or a single-target stimulation group. Each group will receive 10 sessions of tDCS over two weeks. Cognitive performance will be assessed using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) as the primary outcome, while secondary outcomes include the digit span test, Trail Making Test, and modified Barthel Index. Functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) will be used to assess cortical activation and functional connectivity before and after the intervention.

Discussion: The findings are expected to provide evidence on the efficacy and underlying mechanisms of dual-target tDCS in PSCI rehabilitation, potentially offering a more effective neuromodulatory intervention strategy for cognitive recovery in stroke survivors.

Early pharmacological blockade of the CXCL12-CXCR4 axis attenuates vertebral hypercalcification in a zebrafish model of pseudoxanthoma elasticum.

Pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE), caused by pathogenic variants in , is characterized by pathological ectopic calcification with poorly understood mechanisms and no effective therapies. To address this, we developed the first zebrafish model of human PXE by introducing the pathogenic point mutation ( , F2 generation) using the highly efficient zhyA3A-CBE5 cytosine base editor. Three mutant types (Type1-Type3, T1-T3) stratified by calcification severity, exhibited reduced levels of the calcification inhibitors vitamin K1 (VK1) and carboxylated matrix Gla protein (cMGP), which were inversely correlated with the severity of calcification.

Photoelectrochemical (PEC) biosensing has emerged as a vital tool in disease surveillance and therapeutic monitoring. However, most current PEC platforms are constrained to single biomarker detection, limiting their utility in comprehensive disease management. In this study, we report the development of a dual-target PEC biosensor by integrating silane molecules and β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) with carbon nitride materials, specifically designed for monitoring diabetes and its associated complication, uremia.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a highly malignant cancer with limited treatment options. Recent pharmacological studies suggested that Lamiophlomis rotata might contain components with antitumor activities. In this study, we aimed to investigate the potential of polysaccharides as active components in Lamiophlomis rotata.

Breast cancer remains the most common prevalent malignancy among women globally, constituting the primary cause of cancer-associated mortality. While therapeutic advancements have been achieved, persistent challenges in treatment resistance, disease recurrence, and distant metastasis continue to undermine clinical outcomes. Histone deacetylases (HDACs), a conserved family of epigenetic regulators, catalyze the removal of acetyl groups from histone substrates, thereby orchestrating chromatin remodeling and transcriptional regulation.
