Mitochondria in the egg are suggested to be crucial for the onset of new life. However, there is ambiguous knowledge about the necessity for fertilization and early embryonic development. Therefore, we created a conditional Tfam knockout (Tfam; Zp3-Cre) to produce Tfam oocytes for investigation of the mitochondrial abundance in oocytes and early embryos.

: Autism spectrum disorder is a psychological condition characterized by symptoms such as repetitive stereotypic behaviors and social interaction/communication difficulties. It is known that omega-3 deficiency during brain maturation may cause learning disabilities and motor impairment. Therefore, we examined the effects of omega-3 treatment during gestation and/or lactation on autism-related behavioral and molecular deficits in a valproic acid (VPA)-rat model.

Myocardial infarction (MI) is a critical heart disease with a high mortality rate, posing a serious risk to human health. Injectable hydrogels possess considerable therapeutic promise for managing MI through the application of tissue-engineered scaffolds for cell delivery. However, the oxidative stress microenvironment of MI lesions leads to low cell retention and survival.

The study offers an overview of rabbit ownership and welfare in Spain, derived from an online survey with 1246 responses, highlighting regional disparities. Most rabbits were dwarf breeds or lop-eared, come from pet stores or as gifts and cared for by women with 58% being sterilized. Most rabbits lived cage-free indoors, primarily consuming hay (75%), with accessible veterinary care.
