Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a malignant tumor of the liver. Treatment programs according to its physiological and pathological characteristics have reduced the number of new cases and deaths of HCC, but the morbidity and mortality are still high, posing a significant threat to human health. In recent years, the importance of mitophagy in the treatment of HCC has gradually been recognized. The activation of mitophagy inhibits the survival, proliferation and migration of HCC cells through a variety of pathways, promotes cell apoptosis, and can also reduce drug resistance, providing a new direction for the treatment of HCC. Studies have shown that Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) monomers and their derivatives can improve the therapeutic efficacy of HCC and slow down disease progression by regulating mitophagy. This article summarizes the potential mechanism of mitophagy in the progression of HCC and comprehensively explores the potential of TCM monomers and their derivatives in the treatment of HCC, providing new perspectives and strategies for clinical treatment.

Accurate thermodynamic calculations for aluminum alkyls require proper treatment of low-frequency vibrations poorly described by the harmonic approximation (HA). Here, we present a systematic investigation of hindered rotation and out-of-plane bending in aluminum trichloride (ATC) and its methyl derivatives, employing advanced computational methods to perform anharmonic entropy corrections, such as torsional eigenvalue summation (TES), the extended two-dimensional torsion method (E2DT), the multi-structural approximation with torsional anharmonicity (MS-T), and Fourier grid Hamiltonian (FGH). Our results reveal distinct structure-dependent behaviors: monomers exhibit near-free methyl rotations where the HA overestimates entropy by 20-30 J K mol, while dimers show more hindered rotations adequately described by the HA around room temperature.

In this Article, we present a novel data analysis method for the determination of copolymer composition from low-resolution mass spectra, such as those recorded in the linear mode of time-of-flight (TOF) mass analyzers. Our approach significantly extends the accessible molecular weight range, enabling reliable copolymer composition analysis even in the higher mass regions. At low resolution, the overlapping mass peaks in the higher mass range hinder a comprehensive characterization of the copolymers.

Here we present a derivation of the solubility product showing that the solubility product is also a robust description of biomolecules phase boundaries if care is taken to account for soluble oligomers and variable composition within the dense phase. Our calculation describes equilibrium between unbound monomers, the dense phase, and an ensemble of oligomer complexes with significant finite-size contributions to their free energy.
