Background: Distal triceps tendon rupture is related to high complication rates with up to 25% failures. Elbow stiffness is another severe complication, as the traditional approach considers prolonged immobilization to ensure tendon healing. Recently, a dynamic tape was designed, implementing a silicone-infused core for braid shortening and preventing repair elongation during mobilization, thus maintaining constant tissue approximation.

Objectives: Post-acne erythema (PAE), a common consequence of acne, is characterized by capillary dilation and erythema, which significantly impact facial aesthetics and quality of life. This study aims to evaluate and compare the efficacy and safety of intense pulsed light (DPL) and 1064 nm Q-switched Nd:YAG laser in treating PAE.

Methods: This prospective, randomized, self-controlled, evaluator-blinded clinical trial compared DPL and 1064 nm Q-switched Nd:YAG laser treatments on one side of the face, with biweekly sessions for 6 weeks.

Fully Endoscopic Microvascular Decompression for Hemifacial Spasm Using 2-Dimensional/3-Dimensional Endoscopy: Clinical Analysis of 204 Cases.

Oper Neurosurg

September 2025

Department of Neurosurgery and the Training Base of Neuroendoscopic Physicians under the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, Jiangsu Clinical Medicine Center of Tissue Engineering and Nerve Injury Repair, Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University, Nantong, Jiangsu Province, China.

Background And Objectives: Microvascular decompression (MVD) for hemifacial spasm (HFS) is commonly conducted under a microscope. We report a large series of fully endoscopic MVDs for HFS and describe our initial experience with 3-dimensional (3D) endoscopy.

Methods: Clinical data of 204 patients with HFS who underwent fully endoscopic MVD using 2-dimensional (2D) and 3D endoscopy (191 and 13 patients, respectively) from July 2017 to October 2024 were retrospectively analyzed.

Introduction: This study aimed to evaluate and compare the inflammatory responses of two cordless gingival retraction systems by assessing the levels of interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) in gingival crevicular fluid (GCF). The objectives were to measure IL-1β and TNF-α levels before and after retraction using kaolin-based and polyvinyl acetate-based cordless gingival retraction materials at baseline, 1 h, and 24 h, and to compare the inflammatory profiles of these materials.

Materials And Methods: This in-vivo comparative study used a split-mouth design, with each of the 10 enrolled patients serving as their own control by receiving both kaolin-based paste (Traxodent®, Premier Dental Products, Plymouth Meeting, PA, USA) and polyvinyl acetate-based strip (Merocel®, Medtronic, Minneapolis, MN, USA) on different endodontically treated teeth requiring full-coverage crowns, thereby minimizing interindividual variability.

Capitate Osteochondral Graft for Reconstruction of Unstable Proximal Interphalangeal Joint Injury.

JBJS Essent Surg Tech

September 2025

Division of Hand and Reconstructive Microsurgery, Department of Orthopedics, Olympia Hospital & Research Centre, Trichy, Tamilnadu, India.

Background: Hemi-hamate osteochondral grafting is a surgical technique that is utilized to reconstruct the proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint in cases of unstable dorsal fracture-dislocation with >50% articular surface involvement. However, hemi-hamate osteochondral grafting can be technically challenging, has been reported to have various technical modifications, and can lead to complications such as overstuffing of the joint. This surgical technique article describes successful PIP joint reconstruction with use of a hemi-capitate osteochondral graft, which may offer a viable alternative to hemi-hamate osteochondral graft.
