N-Heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) that have wingtip groups with low steric bulk, such as 1,3-dimethyl-benzimidazol-2-ylidene (NHC), form bis-complexes with metal atoms when they are deposited onto Au(111) surfaces . These complexes self-assemble into three different lattices: a herringbone, a double-herringbone, and a chiral kagome lattice. The static properties of these lattices have been studied with scanning tunneling microscopy and theoretical methods. Dynamic processes including complex center displacement and hindered monomer motion have also been observed. Our results suggest that in addition to surface hopping, exchange processes are important, providing a facile mechanism for atom exchange between the overlayer and the metal. These dynamic processes are well-known from studies of metal epitaxy but have not previously been discussed in the context of NHC self-assembly.

The dynamic monitoring of cell death processes remains a significant challenge due to the scarcity of highly sensitive molecular tools. In this study, two hemicyanine-based probes (5a-5b) with D-π-A structures were developed for organelle-specific viscosity monitoring. Both probes exhibited correlation with the Förster-Hoffmann viscosity-dependent relationship (R > 0.

Mimicking human brain functionalities with neuromorphic devices represents a pivotal breakthrough in developing bioinspired electronic systems. The human somatosensory system provides critical environmental information and facilitates responses to harmful stimuli, endowing us with good adaptive capabilities. However, current sensing technologies often struggle with insufficient sensitivity, dynamic response, and integration challenges.

Understanding the determinants of lifespan is a central objective in biology. Lifespan is shaped by dynamic, stage-specific changes in metabolism, energy allocation, and genome integrity. Heart rate serves as a physiological marker that reflects both life stage and metabolic state.

This research explores the dynamical properties and solutions of actin filaments, which serve as electrical conduits for ion transport along their lengths. Utilizing the Lie symmetry approach, we identify symmetry reductions that simplify the governing equation by lowering its dimensionality. This process leads to the formulation of a second-order differential equation, which, upon applying a Galilean transformation, is further converted into a system of first-order differential equations.

Macrophages are professional phagocytes that play a major role in engulfing and eliminating invading pathogens. Some intracellular pathogens, such as Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium, exploit macrophages as niches for their replication, which requires precise and dynamic modulation of bacterial gene expression in order to resist the hostile intracellular environment. Here, we present a comprehensive analysis of the global transcriptome of S.
