The hallmark of the legume lncRNA (), involved in rhizobium-induced nodulation, is the presence of a highly conserved stretch of 24 nucleotides, designated box2, preceded by a small open-reading-frame (sORF) coding for a peptide of 12 to 13 amino acids. Although there is a well-established link between and nodulation, it is not fully clear by which mechanism functions in this process. Here, we show that a region harboring box2 can complement nodule formation in an knock-out mutant (). The sequence of box2 bears the characteristics of a target mimic. We show that the artificial target mimic can indeed complement the reduced capability of nodule formation in , and that box2 exhibits target mimic activity in a transient luciferase assay. In addition, the introduction of a -resistant form of also elevates the capacity to form nodules in We conclude that effectuates nodule initiation by posttranscriptional upregulation of the target , which encodes an essential transcription factor in this step of the nodulation process.

Unrelated pathogens, including viruses and bacteria, use a common short linear motif (SLiM) to interact with cellular kinases of the RSK (p90 S6 ribosomal kinase) family. Such a "DDVF" (D/E-D/E-V-F) SLiM occurs in the leader (L) protein encoded by picornaviruses of the genus , including Theiler's murine encephalomyelitis virus (TMEV), Boone cardiovirus (BCV), and Encephalomyocarditis virus (EMCV). The L-RSK complex is targeted to the nuclear pore, where RSK triggers FG-nucleoporins hyperphosphorylation, thereby causing nucleocytoplasmic trafficking disruption.

Atherosclerosis (AS) is a chronic inflammatory disease driven by endothelial dysfunction, vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation, and insufficient resolution of inflammation. Nitric oxide (NO) plays a crucial role in vascular homeostasis by promoting endothelial cell proliferation, maintaining endothelial integrity, suppressing smooth muscle cell hyperplasia, and exerting potent anti-inflammatory effects. However, clinical application of NO is hindered by its short half-life, lack of targeting, and uncontrolled release.

Durotaxis, cell migration along stiffness gradients, is linked to embryonic development, tissue repair and disease. Despite solid in vitro evidence, its role in vivo remains largely speculative. Here we demonstrate that durotaxis actively drives disease progression in vivo in mouse models of lung fibrosis and metastatic pancreatic cancer.

Volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) for lung cancer involves complex multileaf collimator (MLC) motion, which increases sensitivity to interplay effects with tumour motion. Current dynamic conformal arc methods address this issue but may limit the achievable dose distribution optimisation compared with standard VMAT. This study examined the clinical utility of a VMAT technique with monitor unit limits (VMATliMU) to mimic conformal arc delivery and reduce interplay effects while maintaining plan quality.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a serious inflammatory bowel disease with a significantly increasing incidence globally. Current treatment options often exhibit unstable efficacy and notable side effects, making the exploration of alternative therapies particularly important. Peucedanum praeruptorum Dunn, a traditional Chinese medicine, contains various bioactive compounds, among which praeruptorin A (PA) has garnered attention for its anti-inflammatory potential.
