Article Abstract

Due to the thermal migration and aggregation of metal atoms, constructing nonprecious-metal and N-doped carbon (M-N-C) materials with unique pore structures, highly accessible surface area, and dense metal active sites by pyrolysis remains a challenge. Here we report a cascade chamber confinement approach to fabricate Co-N-C nanofibers with continuous macro-porous carbon nanofiber networks and dense Co-N-C sites. The central objective of this method is to confine Co through cascade chambers of zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) and cross-linked nanofiber networks, thus preventing Co agglomeration at high temperatures and resulting in a free-standing film with high dispersion of Co active sites facile electrospinning. The interconnected hierarchical pores of the nanofiber film offer highly exposed accessible active sites and fast mass transfer. Resultantly, it exhibits encouraging oxygen reduction reaction catalytic activity with a half-wave potential of 0.82 V ( RHE), which is higher than that of Co-N-C electrocatalysts prepared without limited protection. This strategy is widely applicable to different metal-containing precursors and opens up new possibilities to fabricate M-N-C materials with high-density metal sites as electrocatalysts for an efficient oxygen reduction reaction.

Extensive research has confirmed that omega-3 fatty acids provide cardiovascular protection primarily by activating the G protein-coupled receptor 120 (GPR120) signaling pathway. However, natural activators of this receptor often lack sufficient strength and precision. TUG-891, a recently synthesized selective GPR120 activator, has displayed significant therapeutic potential in multiple disease.

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is a rapidly progressing brain malignancy, with its progression closely tied to a hypoxic microenvironment. Hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) acts as a vital regulator in tumor adaptation to low oxygen levels, and its relationship with the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway exerts significant functions in the malignant properties of GBM. In this research, Western blot and qRT-PCR were applied to check β-catenin and HIF-1α expression in GBM.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Fujian Tablet (FJT), a traditional Chinese herbal compound formulation developed under the theoretical framework of "nourishing the liver and kidney, replenishing essence and marrow" , has been clinically applied for over two decades to treat post-stroke neurological deficits. Preliminary studies demonstrated its efficacy in improving motor function and promoting cervical spinal cord neuroaxonal growth in a middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) rat model. Building upon these findings, this study integrates metabolomic evidence of Foxo3a-GPX4 axis activation to systematically elucidate Fujian Tablet's neurorestorative mechanisms through three interconnected pathways: regulation of ferroptosis, promotion of oligodendrocyte proliferation, and remyelination.

Some patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) have demonstrated evidence of exercise-induced arterial hypoxaemia (EIAH). However, EIAH was not quantified using , , and measurements as previously conducted in healthy adults nor was EIAH quantified alongside simultaneous measurements of pulmonary vascular pressures, cardiorespiratory responses, or dyspnoea on exertion (DOE) in these patients. Given the effects of hypoxaemia on pulmonary vasoconstriction, cardiorespiratory responses, and DOE, we tested the hypothesis that patients with HFpEF and EIAH (EIAH) would demonstrate higher pulmonary vascular pressures, worse oxygen uptake, and greater DOE compared with patients without EIAH (EIAH).

Magnetic-field enhancement of the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) represents a promising route toward more efficient alkaline water electrolyzers, yet its origin remains debated due to overlapping effects of mass transport and reaction kinetics. Here, we present a general experimental strategy that employs strong forced convection to suppress uncontrolled transport arising from natural diffusion and magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flows. Using polycrystalline Au electrodes, we show that this approach resolves subtle OER variations under controlled flow and field conditions.
