Article Abstract

Introduction: Image enhanced endoscopy (IEE) can augment the detection of colorectal cancer (CRC) and its precursor lesions, potentially reducing incidence and mortality. Early data on texture and color enhancement imaging (TXI) support its use for neoplasia screening. This study aimed to systematically review and perform a meta-analysis to assess the impact of TXI on colonic adenoma detection.

Methods: The systematic review and meta-analysis followed PRISMA guidelines. Studies comparing TXI with white light imaging (WLI) were eligible for inclusion. Searches were conducted through relevant databases and major conferences up to July 1, 2024. The primary outcome was ADR, with secondary outcomes including polyp detection rate (PDR), mean number of adenomas per patient (MAP), and size, location, morphology, and withdrawal time.

Results: From 1270 results, 4 studies were included in the meta-analysis ( = 5481). TXI significantly increased ADR compared to WLI (55.8% vs. 47.8%, RR 1.24,  < 0.001), PDR (63.7% vs. 54.7%, RR 1.23,  < 0.001), and MAP (mean difference 0.41,  = 0.005). and improved detection of proximal lesions (MD 0.21, 95% CI [0.15-0.27],  < 0.001,  = 0%). Pooled withdrawal times were not different between groups, with no differences between endoscopist experience or quality of bowel preparation, where reported. Sub-analysis further demonstrated superiority of TXI, with an absolute difference in ADR of 14.2%.

Conclusion: TXI significantly improves ADR, PDR, and MAP compared to WLI, highlighting its potential to enhance CRC screening efficacy without impact from user experience, bowel prep, or withdrawal times. TXI is a useful and practical adjunct to enhance the detection of colonic neoplasia.

An 8-week feeding trial was conducted to assess the effects of hydrolyzed feather meal (HFM) as a fish meal replacement on the growth performance, flesh quality, skin color, and intestinal microbiota of yellow catfish (). Five isonitrogen (44% crude protein) and isolipidic (8.5% crude lipid) diets were formulated with varying levels of HFM at 0% (FM, control), 2.

In this study, yak bone collagen peptide-tea polyphenol binding peptides (YCP/TP) were successfully prepared and investigated for their positive effects in replacing nitrite to improve the color, texture, flavor and bacterial community structure of fermented sausages. Results showed that YCP/TP primarily binds through hydrogen bond interactions, enhancing its stability and functional properties. The YCP/TP can effectively inhibit the increase in pH, protein carbonyls and TBARS (p < 0.

This study presents a biopreservation method using sourdough co-fermented with Fructilactobacillus sanfranciscensis and Propionibacterium freudenreichii, optimizing conditions to 220 hydration and 24 h fermentation. The composite sourdough bread quality was evaluated through physicochemical, storage, sensory, and microbial tests, with mechanisms analyzed based on microstructure, rheology, and dough structure. Results showed that: first, the composite sourdough enhanced bread physicochemical properties, increasing volume, height-to-diameter ratio, elasticity, and resilience, while reducing baking loss, hardness, chewiness, and adhesiveness.

Introduction: Complex soft tissue injuries in the facial area can arise from various causes. Surgeons face significant challenges when reconstructing these injuries, as they must select appropriate materials based on texture and color, while also considering their composition and properties. The anterolateral thigh (ALT) flap has emerged as a versatile option in clinical reconstructive surgery, offering many advantages over other free flaps.

Anchovy drying using step-down microwave technique.

School of Energy, Environment and Materials, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi, Bangkok, 10140 Thailand.

Conventional drying methods, such as hot air-reciprocal tray (HART) and microwave-hot air with a reciprocal tray (MHART), often suffer from low energy efficiency and product degradation at high temperatures or microwave power. This study introduced a step-down microwave-hot air with a reciprocal tray system (SMHART) to enhance drying performance using a programmable MHART setup. SMHART significantly reduced drying time and energy consumption (as low as 332.
