Article Abstract

Monitoring space objects is crucial for space situational awareness, yet reconstructing 3D satellite models from ground-based telescope images is super challenging due to atmospheric turbulence, long observation distances, limited viewpoints, and low signal-to-noise ratios. In this paper, we propose a novel computational imaging framework that overcomes these obstacles by integrating a hybrid image pre-processing pipeline with a joint pose estimation and 3D reconstruction module based on controlled Gaussian Splatting (GS) and Branch-and-Bound (BnB) search. We validate our approach on both synthetic satellite datasets and on-sky observations of China's Tiangong Space Station and the International Space Station, achieving robust 3D reconstructions of low-Earth orbit satellites from ground-based data. Quantitative evaluations using SSIM, PSNR, LPIPS, and Chamfer Distance demonstrate that our method outperforms state-of-the-art NeRF-based approaches, and ablation studies confirm the critical role of each component. Our framework enables high-fidelity 3D satellite monitoring from Earth, offering a cost-effective alternative for space situational awareness. To capture transient wind field information, a multi-beam wind field imaging camera is proposed and validated. Equipped with a 1(seed) × 10(amplifier) transmitter and a single-aperture multi-channel telescope, the new system enables wind imaging at a frame rate of 2 Hz, over a 27° field of view, and within a 5-km detection range. Its performance is validated through comparative experiments against a simulated scanning coherent Doppler wind lidar, which exhibits time lags across individual lines of sight.

We report on the 2024 September 9 sustained gamma-ray emission (SGRE) event observed by the Large Area Telescope (LAT) on board the Fermi satellite. The hevent was associated with a backside solar eruption observed by multiple spacecraft such as the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO), Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory (STEREO), Parker Solar Probe (PSP), Solar Orbiter (SolO), Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO), Wind, and GOES, and by ground-based radio telescopes. Fermi/LAT observed the SGRE after the EUV wave from the backside eruption crossed the limb to the frontside of the Sun.

BACKGROUND This report describes the case of a 36-year-old man presenting with severe abdominal pain and small-bowel obstruction due to idiopathic ileo-cecal intussusception. Intussusception refers to the telescoping or folding of a segment of bowel into the section distal to it. It is one of the main differentials of small-bowel obstruction in the pediatric population, but remains exceedingly rare in adults.

Arthritis mutilans (AM) is the most severe and least common form of psoriatic arthritis (PsA), characterized by digital shortening due to osteolysis and often associated with profound functional disability. We report a case of a 61-year-old male with longstanding plaque psoriasis and poor treatment adherence who developed AM affecting the interphalangeal joints of the left foot, with significant joint deformity and extensive skin involvement (30% body surface area). Imaging revealed severe bone breakdown, leading to the affected phalanges of the foot appearing shortened or telescoped.
