This review article, developed by the EASD Global Council, addresses the growing global challenges in diabetes research and care, highlighting the rising prevalence of diabetes, the increasing complexity of its management and the need for a coordinated international response. With regard to research, disparities in funding and infrastructure between high-income countries and low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) are discussed. The under-representation of LMIC populations in clinical trials, challenges in conducting large-scale research projects, and the ethical and legal complexities of artificial intelligence integration are also considered as specific issues.

Contactless human-machine interfaces (C-HMIs) are revolutionizing artificial intelligence (AI)-driven domains, yet face application limitations due to narrow sensing ranges, environmental fragility, and structural rigidity. To address these obstacles, we developed a flexible photonic C-HMI (Flex-PCI) using flexible visible-blind near-infrared organic photodetectors. In addition to its unprecedented performance across key metrics, including broad detection range (0.

Abnormal glycosylation is widespread in cancer, and the overexpression of glycoantigens is a manifestation of glycosylation abnormalities. Tn antigen, sTn antigen, and T antigen are known as tumor-associated glycoantigens, and their expression varies in different tumors or subtypes of the same tumor. Therefore, simultaneous detection of these three glycoantigens is of great significance for the diagnosis of tumors.

Cancer Neuroscience: Decoding Neural Circuitry in Tumor Evolution for Targeted Therapy.

Recent breakthroughs in tumor biology have redefined the tumor microenvironment as a dynamic ecosystem in which the nervous system has emerged as a pivotal regulator of oncogenesis. In addition to their classical developmental roles, neural‒tumor interactions orchestrate a sophisticated network that drives cancer initiation, stemness maintenance, metabolic reprogramming, and therapeutic evasion. This crosstalk operates through multimodal mechanisms, including paracrine signaling, electrophysiological interactions, and structural innervation guided by axon-derived guidance molecules.

The development of ultrablack coatings with exceptional absorption (>98%) has historically faced significant scientific and engineering challenges, primarily due to limitations in material selection, structural design, and practical durability. Considering the difficulties in practical applications of ultrablack materials with micro/nano structures and the limitations of planar ultrablack coatings in optical performance, we introduce an innovative integration of conventional planar ultrablack coatings with a specifically engineered trilayer antireflection architecture. This hybrid system incorporates a refractive index distribution (1.
