The persistence and water mobility of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) have led authorities worldwide to lower regulatory limits to prevent adverse health effects. Removal via adsorption on activated carbon can be inefficient due to the unspecific surface interaction, while ion exchange resins with positive charges and hydrophobic chains can offer faster kinetics and improved removal. In here, novel cationic resins were synthesized by cross-linking polyethylenimine, followed by methylation. To obtain cross-linked particles and introduce hydrophobic interacting moieties in one single synthetic step, aliphatic, fluorous, and silicone-based oligoethers were used as cross-linkers. These cationic adsorbents were compared with two state-of-the-art strong base gel-type ion exchange resins and granular activated carbon in isotherm and kinetic studies. The newly developed adsorbents showed significantly faster removals of all tested long- and short-chain PFAS. The fluorous cationic adsorbent achieved equilibrium loadings that were comparable to those of the state-of-the-art adsorbents for all PFAS with five or more perfluorinated carbon atoms.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the performance of 3D-printed denture base resins (DBRs) compared with conventionally printed DBRs, examine their biofilm formation and physical properties, and determine the viability of 3D-printed DBRs as a superior alternative in removable prosthodontics.
Methods: The DBR samples were fabricated using traditional packing (TRA), milling (MIL), and 3D printing (3DP) methods. All samples were serially polished with an abrasive paper.

This study aimed to histomorphometrically evaluate the effect of guided bone regeneration (GBR) and two implant surfaces on the thickness and height of newly formed bone in dehiscence defects around titanium implants. Three premolars and the first bilateral molar were extracted from ten adult mongrel dogs, and 40 buccal bone dehiscences measuring 5 mm in height and 4 mm in width were created using a University of North Carolina (UNC) periodontal probe to confirm the dimensions. Forty implants were randomly assigned to one of four groups: oxidized implant surfaces (OIS, n = 10), turned/machined implant surfaces (TIS, n = 10), OIS + GBR (n = 10), and TIS + GBR (n = 10).

Objectives: Lymph node metastasis (LNM) is an important factor affecting the stage and prognosis of patients with lung adenocarcinoma. The purpose of this study is to explore the predictive value of the stacking ensemble learning model based on F-FDG PET/CT radiomic features and clinical risk factors for LNM in lung adenocarcinoma, and elucidate the biological basis of predictive features through pathological analysis.
Methods: Ninety patients diagnosed with lung adenocarcinoma who underwent PET/CT were retrospectively analyzed and randomly divided into the training and testing sets in a 7:3 ratio.

Eutectogels have emerged as versatile materials for wearable electronics, optical sensors, and biomedical applications. This study introduced the first investigation of microenvironmental basicity in poly(vinyl alcohol)/choline chloride (PVA/ChCl) eutectogels using lumichrome as a fluorescent probe. The incorporation of ChCl was demonstrated to enhance the microbasicity of PVA films, as evidenced by the significant promotion of lumichrome deprotonation.

Smart hydrogels have advanced rapidly in recent years. However, systems responsive to a single stimulus are typically triggered by specific cues, limiting their adaptability in complex and dynamic biological environments. To overcome this limitation, this study developed a dual-responsive hydrogel sensitive to both temperature and mechanical stress.
