Zinc finger proteins are frequently implicated in a wide range of neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs). In this study, we report a case of mild intellectual disability (ID), global developmental delay (GDD), and developmental coordination disorder (DCD) in an individual with unaffected parents. Trio-based whole-exome sequencing (WES) identified a de novo variant (c.1530dup, p.Glu511ArgfsTer16) in the gene of the proband. According to ACMG guidelines, this novel variant is classified as pathogenic. It creates a frameshift that introduces a premature stop codon, resulting in a truncated protein of 525 amino acids (compared to the wild-type 587 residues). Notably, NMDEscPredictor analysis predicted that the transcript escapes nonsense-mediated decay (NMD) despite the frameshift. Computational analyses suggest the potential pathogenetic effects of the identified variant. As documented, ZNF496 interacts with , a gene associated with NDDs, ID and facial dysmorphism (MIM: #620098). In silico analyses suggest that the identified mutation disrupts this interaction by deleting ZNF496's C2H2 domain, potentially dysregulating target genes. To our knowledge, this is the first reported association between and NDDs, and the variant has been submitted to the ClinVar database (SCV006100880). Functional studies are imperative to validate 's role in NDDs and confirm the mutation's impact on ZNF496-JARID2 interactions.

Objective: To compare parenting stress between parents of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities (DDs) and to examine ASD's influence on parenting stress through mediation analysis.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 48 children with ASD (ASD group) and 77 with non-ASD DDs (non-ASD group), along with one of their parents, at the Gyeongsang National University Hospital between May 2021 and August 2024. All underwent developmental assessments and completed the Korean version of the Parenting Stress Index-4 and the Child Interactive Behavior Test (CIBT).

Background: Intractable paroxysmal sneezing is a rare and diagnostically challenging condition in children, often mimicking organic diseases. While it is often addressed as psychogenic in the literature, our case presented findings suggestive of a tic disorder, highlighting the need for a broader diagnostic perspective.
Case Presentation: An 11-year-old girl was referred to the child and adolescent psychiatry clinic with a one-year history of persistent and fluctuating sneezing episodes.
Introduction: Congenital Hypogonadotropic Hypogonadism (CHH) arises from defects in the synthesis, secretion, or action of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), resulting in incomplete or absent pubertal development and various non-reproductive features. CHH is genetically heterogeneous, with over 50 genes implicated in its pathogenesis. This study aimed to elucidate the genetic variants of CHH in a cohort of patients from a single-center endocrinology unit.

Language learning and use relies on domain-specific, domain-general cognitive and sensory-motor functions. Using fMRI during story listening and behavioral tests, we investigated brain-behavior associations between linguistic and non-linguistic measures in individuals with varied multilingual experience and reading skills, including typical reading participants (TRs) and dyslexic readers (DRs). Partial Least Square Correlation revealed a main component linking cognitive, linguistic, and phonological measures to amodal/associative brain areas.
