Article Abstract

Gabapentinoids, including Gabapentin and Pregabalin, are increasingly misused, particularly by individuals with psychiatric comorbidities or prior substance use. This case series highlights three patients, including one adolescent, who developed dependence on ultra-high doses of Gabapentinoids. Presenting patterns included use for euphoria, self-medication, and anxiety relief. All cases fulfilled the ICD-11 criteria for substance dependence, with features including neuroadaptation, functional impairment, and physical complications like weight-gain and edema. Despite prior literature suggesting low addictive potential, our findings challenge this notion and underscore a need for tighter prescription monitoring, public awareness, and regulatory action, especially in North Indian states like Punjab.

Introduction: Preclinical evidence has demonstrated the potential of FLASH radiotherapy (FLASH-RT) to spare normal tissues compared to conventional (CONV) exposures. Most FLASH studies have used ultra-high dose rate (>40 Gy/sec) electrons and protons whilst comparatively few studies have reported photon FLASH responses. Given the widespread use of photons clinically, there is a need to characterise the FLASH effect using photons.

Introduction: leaves (FSL), a traditional Chinese ethnomedicinal herbal material used to prepare health-promoting infusions and pharmacologically noted for their robust anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and broad-spectrum antiviral activities, nevertheless have an as-yet-uncharacterized molecular mechanism of action against human adenovirus (HAdV).

Methods: Ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with Q-Exactive Orbitrap mass spectrometry (UHPLC-Q-Exactive-Orbitrap/MS) was employed to identification of FSL components. Publicly available GEO datasets were mined to identify HAdV-associated differentially expressed genes (DEGs).

Decision making and learning processes together enable adaptive strategic behavior. Animal studies demonstrated the importance of subcortical regions in these cognitive processes, but the human subcortical contributions remain poorly characterized. Here, we study choice and learning processes in the human subcortex, using a tailored ultra-high field 7T functional MRI protocol combined with joint models.

Isoxazoline drugs (ISOs) are a class of five-membered heterocyclic compounds containing N and O atoms. They can inhibit -aminobutyric acid gated chloride channels and are widely used in the treatment of parasitic diseases in poultry. The intake of animal-derived foods by humans is an important way to come into contact with ISOs.

Iron is vital to living cells, playing a key role in cellular respiration, DNA synthesis, and various metabolic functions. Importantly, cancer cells have a higher dependency on iron compared to normal cells to support their rapid growth and survival. Due to this fact, tumors are more vulnerable to ferroptosis, an iron-dependent form of regulated cell death.
