Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains a leading cause of cancer death worldwide. Sonodynamic therapy (SDT) offers a non-invasive, deep-penetrating approach by using ultrasound to activate sonosensitizers and generate cytotoxic reactive oxygen species (ROS). Yet poor intratumoral delivery and low ROS quantum yields of existing agents have stalled clinical translation.

Bacteria in the genus are obligate intracellular parasites of the eukaryotic cytoplasm. Pathogenic species are exquisitely evolved to only proliferate within eukaryotic host cells, particularly within endothelial cells of the mammalian vasculature. Through evolution in this very specific niche, have developed an inextricable dependence on multiple host functions.

Functional noninvasive tests used to diagnose obstructive coronary artery disease can detect myocardial ischemia through electrocardiographic changes, wall motion abnormalities, or cardiac perfusion changes. These tests include stress echocardiography, stress cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, or stress single-photon emission computed tomography.

Background: Coronary artery fistulas (CAFs) can lead to ischemia and angina in the absence of obstructive coronary artery disease. There is no evidence supporting a noninterventional approach to improve ischemia or alleviate symptoms for patients with refractory angina associated with CAFs.
Case Summary: An 85-year-old woman presented with angina functional class 3 despite being on 3 antianginal medications.

Background: Previous coronary sinus reducer (CSR) meta-analyses in refractory angina (RA) focused on single-arm studies, capturing observed effectiveness-comprising the physical effect of CSR, contextual effects (eg, placebo), and non-treatment-related phenomena (eg, confounding). Efficacy evaluation requires comparative estimates from randomized controlled trials (RCTs), ideally double blind and placebo controlled, to isolate the physical effect.
Objectives: The aims of this study were to evaluate the safety and efficacy of CSR in RA and to compare its efficacy with observed effectiveness.
