Article Abstract

Background: This paper investigates the potential of using the express method with the e-BQC device to determine antioxidant levels in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (MI) (STEMI) both during the acute phase and 3 months post event. The aim is to evaluate the effectiveness of these parameters as indicators of reperfusion syndrome and disease risk.

Materials And Methods: This research was carried out in patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (CEP) of the Karaganda Pluridisciplinary Hospital during the years 2021-2022. Based on defined inclusion and exclusion criteria, 95 patients with STEMI were selected to determine total antioxidant capacity. In addition, the relationship between fundamental characteristics of oxidation state (OSA) and myocadiac ischemia and effect damage was analyzed, including part of the left bus evaluated by echocardiography.

Results: The initial findings indicate that oxidative stress assessment (OSA) does not vary significantly across the different stages of acute MI. The indicators of Vitamin C Equivalent Antioxidant Capacity (AQI) do not show statistically significant differences between the three types of antioxidants, the 3 months of infarction. Second, significant direct correlation between fast-acting (Q1), slow-acting (Q2), and full-load (QT) antioxidant indicators was found.

Conclusion: The application of the express method to determine antioxidant levels through the e-BQC apparatus of patients with STEMI continues to have doubts in the corrective phase of the oxidation process. More research and funding are needed to explore alternative approaches or additional markers to improve the accuracy and availability of oxidative stress assessments in the treatment of MI.

Background: Mental health (MH) problems are more common in people with intellectual disabilities (ID), yet under-diagnosis persists, which may be partly due to a lack of appropriate assessment tools. This study presents a systematic review of instruments used to assess MH problems in Spanish-speaking adults with ID.

Method: Following PRISMA guidelines, a search was conducted in Web of Science, PsycINFO, and Scopus using terms related to ID, MH and assessment.

Department of Geriatrics, Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chengdu, 610072, People's Republic of China.

Background: Sepsis is characterized by profound immune and metabolic perturbations, with glycolysis serving as a pivotal modulator of immune responses. However, the molecular mechanisms linking glycolytic reprogramming to immune dysfunction remain poorly defined.

Methods: Transcriptomic profiles of sepsis were obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus.

Purpose: The fourth most common cause of cancer-related deaths in women is cervical cancer. Though treatment of early-stage cervical cancer is often effective, middle and advanced stage cervical cancer is hard to treat and prone to recurrence. We sought to explore the mechanism underlying cervical cancer progression to identify new therapeutic approaches.

A myotropic AAV vector combined with skeletal muscle -regulatory elements improve glycogen clearance in mouse models of Pompe disease.

Pompe disease is a glycogen storage disorder caused by mutations in the acid α-glucosidase (GAA) gene, leading to reduced GAA activity and glycogen accumulation in heart and skeletal muscles. Enzyme replacement therapy with recombinant GAA, the standard of care for Pompe disease, is limited by poor skeletal muscle distribution and immune responses after repeated administrations. The expression of GAA in muscle with adeno-associated virus (AAV) vectors has shown limitations, mainly the low targeting efficiency and immune responses to the transgene.

Species-specific gene expression manipulation in humanized livers of chimeric mice via siRNA-encapsulated lipid nanoparticle treatment.

Liver-humanized chimeric mice (PXB-mice) are widely utilized for predicting human pharmacokinetics (PK) and as human disease models. However, residual metabolic activity of mouse hepatocytes in chimeric mice can interfere with accurate human PK estimation. Lipid nanoparticle (LNP)-formulated small interfering RNA (siRNA) treatment makes it possible to eliminate the shortcomings of chimeras and create new models.
