Background: Functional dyspepsia (FD) is a common gastrointestinal disorder affecting 10-20% of the global population. This case series aimed to report the clinical outcomes of three patients with FD who were treated with eight constitution acupuncture (ECA) and eight constitution diet (ECD), a personalized treatment approach based on the eight constitution medicine (ECM) theory.
Methods: Three patients with chronic FD were retrospectively selected from two Korean medical clinics. Each patient underwent ECA and ECD according to their constitution type as determined by pulse diagnosis. FD symptoms and quality of life were assessed using the Nepean Dyspepsia Index-Korean version (NDI-K) and Functional Dyspepsia-Quality of Life (FD-QoL) scores before and 2 and 4 weeks post-treatment. Adherence to treatment and adverse events were also evaluated.
Results: All three patients showed significant improvements in NDI-K and FD-QoL scores after 4 weeks of treatment. No adverse events were observed during the treatment period. In particular, one patient experienced temporary symptom relapse due to poor dietary adherence, suggesting that the effectiveness of ECD may be associated with adherence to the prescribed diet.
Conclusion: ECA combined with ECD led to significant symptom improvement and improved the quality of life in patients with chronic FD. These findings support the potential use of ECM-based interventions as effective and personalized treatment approaches for FD. More studies with larger sample sizes and standardized tools to assess diet adherence are required to validate these results and explore long-term outcomes.

Individuals with mental health difficulties in Iceland can be detained in police cells as a last resource place of safety when psychiatrists consider patients unsuitable for admission to a ward, for example, due to being under the influence of substances or being too violent. We aimed to investigate if detainment in a police cell affected symptoms of mental illnesses, and subsequently if police cells are an appropriate place of safety for patients in Iceland. We used a mixed methods approach utilising administrative records of detainees' visible symptoms of mental illnesses and ten semi-structured interviews with mental health professionals and police sergeants.

Introduction: Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) poses challenges for component positioning during total hip arthroplasty (THA) secondary to abnormal bone morphology, soft-tissue contractures, and hip center migration. The objective of this study was to evaluate the radiographic and clinical outcomes of THA for DDH performed with robotic assistance versus manual (M) technique.
Methods: A retrospective review identified 115 patients with Crowe II to IV dysplasia undergoing primary THA at a single institution from 2016 to 2022.

Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) is a rare lung disease caused by hyperactivation of the mechanistic/mammalian target of rapamycin 1 (mTORC1) growth pathway in a subset of mesenchymal lung cells. Histopathologically, LAM lesions have been described as immature smooth muscle-like cells positive for the immature melanocytic marker HMB45/PMEL/gp100 and phosphorylated ribosomal protein S6 (pS6). Advances in single cell sequencing (scRNA-seq) technology allowed us to group LAM cells according to their expression of cancer stem cell (CSC) genes and identify three clusters: a high CSC-like state (SLS), an intermediate state, and a low CSC-like inflammatory state (IS).
