Background: Sprayed corn bran - a by-product of starch extraction from corn by wet-milling technology - is often used as feedstuff to partially substitute protein feed. However, the utilization of sprayed corn bran is greatly restricted in feed because of its low protein content and poor taste.
Results: Three microbes with non-protein nitrogen utilization ability were screened and applied to the solid-state fermentation of sprayed corn bran and urea with incubation of the fungus Aspergillus niger, and a two-stage (aerobic and anaerobic) solid-state fermentation was established. The optimum aerobic fermentation conditions were determined by response surface methodology. When the fermentation time, temperature, moisture, and inoculated amount were 72 h, 36 °C, 65% (v/w), and 20% (v/w), respectively, the crude protein content of the sprayed corn bran could reach 348 g kg. Finally, the nutrient components were characterized during the two-stage solid-state fermentation process. The conversion rate of the urea was 54.8%. The crude protein content was increased from 284 to 351 g kg, which comprises 293 g kg of protein, amino acids and peptides. In particular, contents of the functional amino acids proline and arginine were increased by 64% and 130%, respectively. The mycotoxins zearalenone and aflatoxin were lower than the National Feed Safety Standards. Meanwhile, the two-stage solid-state fermentation enriched beneficial living microorganisms and improved feed flavor.
Conclusion: This study could efficiently improve the nutritional value of sprayed corn bran, enabling the reuse of agricultural by-products, with the potential to help alleviate the shortage of protein feed. © 2025 Society of Chemical Industry.

Unlabelled: Drought stress substantially threatens global food security. To cope with this, a field-based trial was performed to examine the influence of PGPRs/microbial consortia & ) and kinetin on the maize under full irrigation and 50% drought. The results of biochemical features of bacteria revealed positive for phosphorus, and zinc solubilization with great capacity to battle stress circumstances owing (ACC deaminase, Indole 3 Acetic acid IAA, and siderophore) production.

Choline-based ionic liquids have emerged as promising materials with diverse applications in electrochemistry, biomaterials, and environmental remediation technologies. However, their impacts on the agricultural ecological environment remain relatively underexplored. In this study, the regulatory effects of foliar-sprayed choline-aspartate ionic liquid ([Chl][Asp] IL) on maize growth and rhizosphere soil properties were analysed during a two-year field experiment.

The fungicidal efficacy of hydroxyl radicals (•OH) on fungal biosynthetic pathways and metabolic processes has been well-documented, but the precise modulation of •OH generation remains a significant challenge. Herein, we engineered a dual-cocatalyst-modified BiFeO (BFO) system by loading Au nanoparticles on (010) facets and MnO nanosheets on (100) facets. Au/MnO/BFO demonstrates a 4.

Evaluating the protein quality of ingredients is essential for formulating nutritionally adequate canine and feline diets. This study aimed to determine and compare the standardized amino acid (AA) digestibility using the precision-fed cecectomized rooster assay. Four ingredients were tested: spray-dried chicken protein hydrolysate (CPH), spray-dried chicken meat (CC), spray-dried chicken broth (CB), and chicken meal (CM).

Salinity is one of the biggest limitations of agriculture in semi-arid regions of the world. It negatively impacts the growth and yield of Zea mays L. Especially the seedling stage is extremely sensitive to salt stress.
