We report the case of a 58-year-old male with prior Billroth II gastrectomy who presented with worsening abdominal pain. Contrast-enhanced CT revealed a hyperdense, corticated, triangular-shaped foreign body (FB), consistent with a chicken bone, which had undergone retrograde migration and become impacted in the afferent duodenal loop. The FB's orientation and location were precisely characterized, with associated inflammatory changes but no perforation. Push enteroscopy confirmed and successfully removed the FB. Post-procedural imaging excluded complications. This case highlights the diagnostic value of CT in identifying ingested FBs and illustrates the exceptional risk of retrograde FB migration and potential perforation in the afferent loop following Billroth II surgery.

The development of new adjunct therapies to support bone healing remains an important clinical challenge. Eggshell membrane (ESM), a natural biomaterial derived from chicken eggs, has recently attracted attention for its safety, biocompatibility, and cost-effectiveness. We aimed to evaluate the effects of ESM supplementation on bone healing in a rat tibial drill-hole injury model.

Background: Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have been extensively employed to elucidate the genetic architecture of body weight (BW) traits in chickens, which represent key economic indicators in broiler production. With the growing availability of genomic data from diverse commercial and resource chicken populations, a critical challenge lies in how to effectively integrate these datasets to enhance sample size and thereby improve the statistical power for detecting genetic variants associated with complex traits.
Methods: In this study, we performed a multi-population GWAS meta-analysis on BW traits across three genetically distinct chicken populations, focusing on BW at 56, 70, and 84 days of age: P1 (N301 Yellow Plumage Dwarf Chicken Line; = 426), P2 (F2 reciprocal cross: High Quality Line A × Huiyang Bearded chicken; = 494), and P3 (F2 cross: Black-bone chicken × White Plymouth Rock; = 223).

The role of collagen peptides in anti-photoaging has attracted considerable research attention; however, the structure-activity relationship between their specific structural characteristics and biological efficacy remains poorly defined. In this study, collagen peptides from five sources, cod skin (CP), tilapia skin (TP), cowhide (BP), pig skin (PP), and chicken bone (JP), were selected to systematically compare their anti-photoaging activities in a UVA-induced L929 cell model and to investigate the mechanisms underlying their effects through analysis of molecular weight distributions, amino acid compositions, and sequence features. The results showed that CP, TP, and BP had stronger activities in increasing cell viability, enhancing the expression of , , and HAS-1/2/3, and inhibiting ROS generation and over-activation of MMP-1/3 in UVA-damaged cells, with CP having the most significant effect.

Wuding chicken, an indigenous avian breed native to China, is known for its high-quality meat and eggs. However, it has a low egg production rate, poor reproductive traits, and strong broody behavior. Ovarian follicle development is essential for egg production and reproduction, being regulated by the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovary (HPO) axis.
