The fragile texture of fresh goji berries makes them prone to rapid quality deterioration during storage. This study investigated the effects of white LED irradiation (100 μmol m s) on the postharvest quality of fresh goji berries. Compared to control samples, LED irradiation significantly improved fruit firmness and total phenolic content, preserved color quality and total carotenoid levels, and upregulated carotenoid biosynthesis genes such as LbPSY, LbZ-ISO, LbCRTISO, and LbLCA1. Transcriptomic analysis revealed that LED irradiation enhanced the expression of carotenoid biosynthesis-related genes during early and mid-storage, activated the terpenoid backbone biosynthesis pathway (including the MEP and MVA pathways), and downregulated WRKY transcription factors potentially involved in carotenoid repression. These findings showed that LED irradiation could maintain higher quality attributes and nutritional qualities, especially in terms of color quality and carotenoid levels, thereby improving the fresh goji berries' storability. This study provides a useful way to store fresh goji berries in the future after harvest.

Blue light, defined as short-wavelength visible light ranging from 400 to 500 nm, is recognized for its high energy within the visible light spectrum. The prevalent use of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) has significantly increased exposure to blue light. Corneal endothelial cells (CECs) playing a crucial role in maintaining corneal transparency to get clear visual field.

Colloidal Lignin Particles (CLPs), with their polyphenolic structure, are promising sustainable alternatives to chemical UV filters. This study investigates the photochemical behavior of CLPs under ultraviolet irradiation synthetized from five different technical raw lignins (Alkali, Organosolv, two Enzymatic Hydrolyzed and Softwood Kraft Lignin) via solvent-shift procedure. The suspensions were irradiated using a self-developed UV-pen set-up and a commercially available UV chamber, enabling controlled UV exposure over time.

Resistance to chemoradiotherapy is a crucial factor limiting the efficacy of therapy and prognosis of esophageal cancer. It is necessary to elucidate the key genes and regulatory mechanisms responsible for therapeutic resistance in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). In this study, we found a relationship between ferroptosis and therapeutic sensitivity in ESCC and identified the ring finger protein 217 (RNF217) as a new regulator of ferroptosis associated with resistance to chemoradiotherapy in ESCC.
