Primary squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the orbit is a rare and uncommon form of invasive epithelial malignancy, with few cases reported. Due to its rarity, treatment protocols remain undefined, and the therapy choices are debated. We present the case of a male in his early 50s from a low-income country who underwent treatment based on basic oncoplastic principles. He presented with a painful, blind right eye for 4 months, with clinical and imaging studies ruling out other primary malignancies. The diagnosis was locally advanced primary orbital SCC. A multidisciplinary team recommended orbital exenteration with craniofacial resection, followed by reconstruction using a temporalis sling flap and nasolabial advancement flap. Six months postsurgery, the patient showed good progress with normal vision in the unaffected eye. Primary orbital SCC, though rare, can be successfully treated with surgical resection and oncoplastic reconstruction, even in resource-limited settings.

We report the synthesis and reactivity of phenylpyridine-based boron azides readily accessible via nucleophilic substitution from generated borenium-type precursors. Three azides were obtained: a hydridic species (L)BHN (L = 2-phenylpyridine), a cyclopentyl-substituted analogue (L)B(cyclopentyl)N, and a boron diazide (L)B(N) obtained as a byproduct from the synthesis of (L)BHN. The prepared borane azides exhibit notable thermal and photochemical robustness, with decomposition temperatures around 140 °C in mesitylene solution and above 170 °C in the solid state, as evidenced by DSC/TGA analysis.

The intersystem crossing (ISC) process of photosensitizers (PSs) is crucial for the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in photodynamic immunotherapy. Herein, a counterion-regulation strategy is applied to enhance ISC efficiency in aggregation-induced emission (AIE) PSs, optimizing type-I ROS production. Background: Ocular adnexal marginal zone lymphoma (OAMZL) is the most common subtype of primary ocular lymphoma and has been rising in incidence in Asian populations.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of 95 patients diagnosed with OAMZL within a multi-ethnic cohort from Singapore. Clinical characteristics, survival outcomes including overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS), and maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) on staging F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18-FDG-PET/CT) were investigated.
