Article Abstract

The radical migration (RaM) mechanism via photoinduced transformation is a powerful tool in organic synthesis to construct new molecular scaffolds. Herein we disclose a metal-free, photoinduced 1,2-carbonyl migration of β,γ-unsaturated ketones to afford a wide range of valuable β-SF/β-CFSF ketones. This transformation exhibits broad functional group tolerance and is suitable for the late-stage modification of complex molecules in up to 93% yield with excellent chemoselectivity and regioselectivity. Furthermore, mechanistic studies reveal that the selective synthesis of 1,3-chloropentafluorosulfanylation can be accomplished via a carbonyl migration followed by a radical chain propagation pathway. Finally, SF-containing compound exhibits potential anticancer activity, underscoring the utility of this approach.

Asymmetric Mannich reaction enabled synthesis of alkaloids.

The catalytic asymmetric Mannich reaction is a multicomponent reaction which affords β-amino carbonyl compounds by utilizing an aldehyde, a primary or secondary amine/ammonia, and a ketone. β-amino carbonyl scaffolds are crucial intermediates for the synthesis of naturally occurring bioactive compounds and their derivatives. The synthesized natural compounds exhibit a broad spectrum of biological activities including anti-fungal, anti-cancer, anti-bacterial, anti-HIV, anti-oxidant, and anti-inflammatory activities.

Polydrug abuse is the persistent self-administration of more than one reinforcing drug. The present study provided rhesus monkeys concurrent access to two drugs: 8% alcohol and solutions of either cocaine or methadone. The liquids were available under concurrent nonindependent fixed-ratio (FR) schedules across increasing and then decreasing ratio sizes.

Photodegradable nanoparticles with sphere, worm, and vesicle morphologies were synthesized following polymerization induced self-assembly (PISA), incorporating a photoresponsive phenyl vinyl ketone (PVK) block and a nonphoto responsive 2-hydroxypropyl methacrylamide (HPMA) block. The photodegradation of nanoparticles under UV revealed that the initial shapes of sphere and vesicle particles are retained even until 7 h and after 24 h of photo-induced degradation, respectively, despite a significant reduction in molecular weight (M). This could be due to the assembly of degraded PVK fragments in the hydrophobic region, maintaining the relative hydrophilic to hydrophobic ratio.

This study aimed to evaluate the association between a dietary education approach grounded in the transtheoretical model and cognitive load theory and glycemic control and pregnancy-related outcomes in patients diagnosed with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). A retrospective analysis was performed using clinical data from 126 pregnant women with GDM who received care at our hospital between September 2021 and September 2023. Participants were grouped based on the type of nursing intervention received: a control group that underwent standard care and an observation group that received an additional cognitive load-informed dietary education program based on transtheoretical model.

The complexity of cheese flavour components, different origin and variability in experimental data have hindered credible flavour description of Cheddar cheese at different ripening time periods. This study combined GC-MS with machine learning to explore the common characteristic ingredients of Cheddar cheese independent of origin during ripening stage at 6-12 °C. A random forest model among six classifiers performed best in assessing Cheddar cheese ripening time and 14 flavour substances (ketones, acids, and lactones) were selected as characteristic flavours by recursive feature elimination from 66 flavour substances to train the model.
