Triacylglycerol (TAG), the primary storage lipid in plants, determines oil quality through its fatty acid composition. This review focuses on the biosynthesis of TAG, systematically analyzing the mechanistic similarities and differences between the acyl-CoA-dependent Kennedy pathway (catalyzed by the rate-limiting enzyme DGAT) and the acyl-CoA-independent pathway (regulated by the rate-limiting enzyme PDAT). By integrating functional studies, evolutionary analyses, and lipidomic data, we reveal the distinct substrate preferences of DGAT and PDAT, their differential contributions to TAG synthesis, and their synergistic mechanisms in shaping triacylglycerol diversity. This work establishes a theoretical framework for the targeted engineering of plant oils with enhanced nutritional and industrial value through optimized fatty acid profiles.

Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a neurodegenerative disease caused by ubiquitous deficiency in the SMN protein. The identification of disease modifiers is key to understanding pathogenic mechanisms and broadening the range of targets for developing SMA therapies that complement SMN upregulation. Here, we report a cell-based screen that identified inhibitors of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38 MAPK) as suppressors of proliferation defects induced by SMN deficiency in mouse fibroblasts.

Decades of antibiotic misuse have spurred an antimicrobial resistance crisis, creating an urgent demand for alternative treatment options. Although phototherapy has therapeutic potential, the efficacy of the most advanced photosensitizers (PS) is essentially limited by aggregation-induced quenching, which significantly reduces their therapeutic effect. To address these challenges, we developed a cationic metallocovalent organic framework (CRuP-COF) via a solvent-mediated dual-reaction synthesis strategy.

The pyrolysis of flue-cured tobacco stalks (TS) faces challenges such as low bio-oil value and utilization efficiency. Existing studies have overlooked the anatomical heterogeneity of tobacco stalks, thereby limiting the directional regulation of high-value components, such as nicotine and phenolic compounds. This study divides TS into the husk (TSH), xylem (TSX), and pith (TSP), and investigates their physicochemical properties, pyrolysis behavior (through TGA and fixed-bed pyrolysis experiments), and interactions.

This study investigated the inhibitory effect of sucrose on the autolysis of recombinant Bacillus subtilis WB600 during keratinase production and elucidated its mechanism. Growth curves, cell morphology observations, cell wall integrity detection, and transcriptome analysis revealed that 2 % sucrose significantly increased cell biomass and delayed autolysis. Keratinase activity reached 5670.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: The high mortality rate associated with severe influenza partly results from delayed initiation of antiviral therapy and subsequent cytokine storms. Jiuwei Qianghuo Decoction combined with Zhuye Shigao Decoction (JZF) has been clinically prescribed to prevent the progression to a more severe illness in influenza treatment. However, the precise mode of action and active components have not yet been elucidated.
