Sensitivity and selectivity of aromatic oxalates towards HO are proposed as key criteria for selecting substrates for chemiexcited photodynamic therapy (PDT). An increase in the electronegativity of the oxalate reduces both sensitivity and selectivity. The presence of an -substituent increases the efficiency of aromatic oxalate. Oxalate encapsulation in micelles does not change the patterns observed in solution. The biocompatible bis(2-pentyloxycarbonyl-phenyl)oxalate, synthesized for the first time, is a promising oxalate for chemiexcited PDT.

Salvia rosmarinus Spenn. (rosemary) is a worldwide known aromatic plant, commonly used in culinary and medicine for various healing effects due to lower molecular weight compounds, such as phenols and flavonoids. In this study, we report the isolation, chemical composition and structural properties of macromolecular components composed of polysaccharides, proteins and phenolics.

Background: Due to the increasing demand for organic food by consumers, agricultural systems had to change towards a more sustainable and environmental approach. One of the practices aligned with this purpose is the application of efficient biostimulants as a tool to improve food production with the smallest possible ecological footprint. For this reason, the aim of this work was to evaluate the effectiveness and comparison of an organic system composed of a Lombrico SET biostimulant formulated from seaweed extracts, amino acids and carbohydrates from plant-based sources on two different varieties of cherries, Nimba and Red Pacific, against a conventional system composed by Maxi-Grow Excel, Equilibrium and Exelgrow products according to the usual biostimulant treatments of the farmer for sweet cherry crop.

Photosensitive organic molecules and semiconducting minerals have been widely reported to produce hydroxyl radicals (OH) in aquatic environments. However, studies employing multicomponent systems remain limited. This study investigates the role of minerals in OH photochemical generation in the presence of organic compounds with distinct functional groups.

Soil contamination with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) is severe, and their high biotoxicity and recalcitrance made effective remediation challenging. The heterogeneous Fenton process utilizing nanoscale zero-valent iron (nZVI) has been recognized as a promising technology for organic pollutant removal in various remediation media (e.g.
