The introduction of mesoporosity is of great importance because mass-transportation limitations within microporous systems hinder their catalytic performance. The direct formation of mesoporosity in zeolite is generally achieved through the use of an additional and expensive organic template, which limits its industrial applications. In this investigation, we reported a facile procedure for synthesizing zeolite Beta with micromesoporosity, in which tetraethylammonium hydroxide (TEAOH)/crystal seeds (CS) worked as the micropore-directing agents, assisted by simple citric acid (CA) containing hydroxyl carboxylic groups. The working mechanism of TEAOH/CS/CA was proposed on the basis of various characterization methods. Oxalic acid was employed as an additional template to further elucidate the formation mechanism of the mesopores. The formation mechanism is proposed that CA with hydroxyl carboxylic groups can interact with aluminosilicate and TEAOH simultaneously to form a semimicelle, leading to the final mesostructure. The resultant mesoporous material was tested in the esterification reaction of benzyl alcohol and acetic acid. Improved activity and selectivity were observed as a result of the introduction of intracrystalline mesopores, suggesting the superiority of the CA-assisted zeolite Beta. This novel procedure provides a simple procedure for obtaining zeolite Beta with hierarchical pores, which can enable the economic and environmentally friendly production of hierarchical zeolites for industrial applications.

Tungstate-based catalysts for olefin metathesis generally suffer from insufficient reaction rates, which require relatively high temperatures for the satisfied activities. This issue is mainly due to the shortage of active WO species related to intrinsic low adsorption and poor activation of olefin molecules. Herein, we found that the silanol nests in dealuminated Beta zeolite (DeAl-Beta) were favorable for high dispersion of tungsten species, forming active WO species on the zeolite, which was helpful for the adsorption and activation of olefin molecules, thus facilitating the generation of metallocycle intermediates.

In this contribution, several Sn-β zeolites with variable Sn content and acid characteristics were prepared by regulated postsynthetic incorporation of Sn into predealuminated Beta zeolites and investigated in detail in terms of their surface properties, namely, using FTIR pyridine and deuterated acetonitrile, as well as XPS. The obtained zeolites were applied to the catalytic conversion of glucose in methanol to yield methyl lactate. Precise regulation of the tin amount (close to stoichiometric Si/Sn ratio) allowed us to obtain catalysts which afforded up to 63.

Herein, we describe the synthesis of magnetic zeolitic imidazole framework (ZIF-8) microswimmers for detecting and quantifying the amyloid beta (Aβ) peptide in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) samples, which are used as a biomarker of amyloidosis for diagnosing Alzheimer's disease (AD). The microswimmers are prepared by external decoration of the ZIF-8 with magnetic FeO nanoparticles, followed by post internal encapsulation of quinine as fluorescent probe. The magnetic and surface properties of the microswimmers are fine-tuned to obtain tailored structures with an inner porous structure with the loaded fluorescent probe and outer magnetic engines.

Elucidating reaction mechanisms in heterogeneous catalysis demands real-time tracking of transient species at the solid-liquid interface. To address limitations in directly probing surface processes with conventional mass spectrometry (MS), this work develops an innovative "in-source reaction" strategy by integrating the reactor with the electrospray ionization (ESI) source. Diverse catalysts (e.

Hydrocracking of polyolefins using metal-zeolite catalysts offers a promising route for upcycling plastic waste into valuable fuels. However, achieving high-efficiency hydrocracking remains a significant challenge due to the complex depolymerization mechanisms, which hinder the optimization of catalyst structures. Here, we present a novel catalyst design strategy that achieves precise spatial control of Pt and acid sites by strategically positioning Pt clusters on the external surfaces and within the channels of H-Beta (Hβ) zeolite.
