Disasters, both natural and human-made, pose significant challenges to public health systems worldwide. This Research Letter examines the latest strategies and interventions in disaster preparedness and response. Our study highlights key practices that enhance the readiness and resilience of healthcare professionals and communities against disasters. The strategies reviewed include comprehensive emergency planning, simulation exercises, continuous education, interagency coordination, community engagement, and technological advancements. Our findings underscore the importance of multifaceted approaches that significantly improve disaster preparedness and response outcomes. This research provides valuable insights into effective disaster management practices and establishes an important foundation for future studies.

EvalHCID is a clinical decision support system integrating outbreak intelligence, symptom onset, and epidemiologic risk factors to identify high consequence infectious diseases (HCIDs) (eg, Ebola). Tested among 20 emergency department (ED) providers, it significantly reduced assessment time, lowered misclassification, and scored "excellent" usability. EvalHCID may improve institutional preparedness and patient outcomes for emerging infectious disease threats.

Despite growing recognition of the interdependencies of resilience across systems, sectors, and levels (SSLs), translating this understanding into coordinated action remains a challenge. This study identifies seven systemic gaps that reinforce a persistent know–do gap, creating an unhealthy that reinforces fragmentation across SSLs. This viewpoint highlights the critical need for proactive and strategic integration of digital health tools into heat-health action plans (HHAPs) across Europe. Drawing insights from the digital health surge during the COVID-19 pandemic and recent heat-related health impacts, we identify response gaps and suggest specific strategies to strengthen current plans. Key recommendations include leveraging mobile health communication, expanding telemedicine usage, adopting wearable health monitoring devices, and using advanced data analytics to improve responsiveness and equity.
