Chronic kidney disease (CKD), heart failure (HF) and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) are pathologies that may remain silent for a long time and thus are largely underdiagnosed in clinical practice. The use of biomarkers may help detect people already suffering from these diseases at an early stage or at increased risk to develop them in a near future. The aim of this article is to discuss the place of the assays of albuminuria, natriuretic peptide (BNP/proBNP) and high-sensitivity troponin as well as lipoprotein(a) to help in the diagnosis and prognosis assessment of individuals at risk of presenting or developing a CKD, HF or ASCVD.

Introduction: Etripamil is a fast-acting intranasally self-administered calcium-channel blocker developed for termination of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT). Prior studies have demonstrated safety and efficacy of etripamil for PSVT termination following an initial medically supervised test dose during sinus rhythm. NODE-303 is an open-label, single-arm study that evaluated etripamil for multiple, at-home PSVT episodes, without test dose before first use.

Chemical gardens refer to a class of self-assembling structures of semi-permeable precipitates. They have been attracting significant interest due to their relevance to sub-oceanic hydrothermal vents and the origin of life. We have investigated the growth behaviour of chemical garden walls in a horizontal Hele-Shaw cell.

Aim: A total of 30% of individuals with epilepsy are resistant to drug treatment. Deep brain stimulation (DBS) of the anterior nucleus of the thalamus (ANT) shows promise for treating drug-resistant epilepsy (DRE), but further research is needed to optimize DBS parameters, including stimulation frequency. This study aimed to reveal the optimal frequency for ANT-DBS by testing the real-time effects of various stimulation frequencies on the ANT among patients undergoing stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) electrode implantation.

ancreatic cancer is an aggressive disease and often presents at an advanced stage with no curative options. The disease is often characterized by rapid progression, limited or short-lived responsiveness to standard therapies, and a profound impact on patients' quality of life. Despite advances in targeted therapies and immunotherapy, curative outcomes remain elusive for the majority of patients with advanced or high-grade disease with a 5-year survival rate of less than 10%.
