The rapid separation and detection of neuronal-derived small extracellular vesicles (EVs) in plasma is essential for diagnosing and monitoring the progression of Alzheimer's disease (AD). In this study, we present a magnetic separation-assisted visual analysis strategy for detecting Aβ42-positive EVs (Aβ42 EVs) using a nanozyme-catalyzed colorimetric sensor. EVs are first captured from plasma using FeO@SiO core-shell nanoparticles functionalized with CD63 aptamers (FeO@SiO-Apt). Au@Pt nanozymes, modified with Aβ42 aptamers (Au@Pt-Apt), then bind to the Aβ42 protein on the EVs, forming a sandwich structure (FeO@SiO-EVs-Au@Pt NPs). This structure catalyzes the oxidation of the substrate 3,3',5,5'-Tetramethylbenzidine (TMB), generating visual signals. The sensor demonstrates high sensitivity, with a detection range of 1 × 10 to 1 × 10 particles/mL and a low detection limit of 7.2 × 10 particles/mL. It was successfully used to detect Aβ42 EVs in plasma samples from AD patients, showing significant promise for early AD diagnostics in clinical settings.

In charge detection mass spectrometry (CD-MS) ions are trapped in an electrostatic linear ion trap (ELIT) where they oscillate back and forth through a conducting cylinder. The oscillating ions induce a periodic charge separation that is detected by a charge sensitive amplifier (CSA) connected to the cylinder. The resulting time domain signal is analyzed using short-time Fourier transforms to give the mass-to-charge ratio and charge for each ion, which are then multiplied to give the mass.

Pax-5a gene, as a nucleic acid biomarker closely associated with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL), holds significant potential for early disease diagnosis. In this study, we developed a highly accurate and efficient "on-super on-off" photoelectrochemical (PEC) biosensor based on a dual-photoelectrode heterojunction system integrated with a multisphere cascade DNA amplification strategy. The designed heterojunction dual-photoelectrode platform, comprising a InO/CdS photoanode (on state) and an in situ-formed MIL-68(In)/InO (MIO) photocathode, effectively extends the electron-hole transport pathway, enhances photogenerated charge separation, and produces high-amplitude signal output (super on state), thereby providing a robust baseline for signal transduction.

A method for determination of ten kinds of sweeteners in soybean products by multi-plug filtration cleanup (-PFC) combined with ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) was established. The sample was extracted with acetonitrile (containing 1% formic acid), degreased by using -hexane liquid-liquid extraction and purified by solid phase extraction using an -PFC column (Oasis PRiME HLB). The analytes were separated by using a Waters ACQUITY UPLC® BEH C (2.

Postdiction is a perceptual phenomenon where the perception of an earlier stimulus is influenced by a later one. This effect is commonly studied using the 'rabbit illusion', in which temporally regular, but spatially irregular, stimuli are perceived as equidistant. While previous research has focused on short inter-stimulus intervals (100-200 ms), the role of longer intervals, which may engage late attentional processes, remains unexplored.

Background: Following the introduction of a funded recombinant shingles (RZV, Shingrix®) vaccination program in ≥65 years in Australia, clinician reports of shingles presentations shortly after vaccination emerged. We investigated whether there was an increase in shingles risk immediately post RZV vaccination in South-eastern Australia.
Methods: Two independent datasets- a general practice dataset and a statewide linked dataset- were analysed separately using self-controlled case series analyses (SCCS) with 21-days post-vaccination as the risk window.
