Solid additive engineering is a well-established and effective strategy for enhancing active layer morphology in polymer solar cells (PSCs), thereby improving their power conversion efficiency (PCE). However, the availability of effective solid additive molecules remains limited, especially those combining simple structural units with a large dipole moment to promote strong interactions with active materials. In this study, we introduce 4-iodobenzonitrile (IBZN), a commercially available, low-cost, and structurally simple molecule with a high dipole moment (3.33 debye), as a solid additive for PSCs. Theoretical calculations, ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy experiments, and a morphology analysis demonstrate that IBZN forms strong interactions with L8-BO, subsequently enhancing the packing mode and crystallization. The incorporation of IBZN into PM6:L8-BO-based PSCs resulted in an increased fill factor (FF) of 79.54% and a boosted PCE from 17.49% to 18.77%. Furthermore, IBZN has also demonstrated outstanding regulatory effects in systems based on other Y-series acceptors, such as Y6 and BTP-ec9. This study not only introduces a structurally simple solid additive molecule characterized by a large dipole moment but also offers valuable insights for the subsequent development of novel solid additives aimed at enhancing the morphology and efficiency of PSCs.

Background: Solid organ transplant (SOT) recipients are not only at increased risk of morbidity and mortality due to acute COVID-19 but may also experience poor long-term outcomes due to post-acute COVID-19 syndromes, including long COVID.
Methods: This retrospective, registry-based chart review evaluated graft failure and mortality among SOT recipients diagnosed with COVID-19 at a large, urban transplant center in Houston, Texas, USA. Patient populations were analyzed separately according to their long COVID status at the time of transplant to preserve the temporal relationship between the exposure (long COVID) and the outcome (graft failure or mortality).

Isatin (1-indole-2,3-dione) is a privileged nitrogen-containing heterocyclic framework that has received considerable attention in anticancer drug discovery owing to its general biological behavior and structural diversity. This review focuses on isatin-heterocyclic hybrids as a valuable model in the development of new anti-cancer drugs that may reduce side effects and help overcome drug resistance, discussing their synthetic approaches and mechanism of action as apoptosis induction through kinase inhibition. With various chemical modifications, isatin had an excellent ability to build powerful isatin hybrids and conjugates targeting multiple oncogenic pathways.

An imino-linked dansyl-carbazole molecular system, DASH, is designed and synthesized. This system (DASH) is rationalized in such a way that it works as a suitable template for the detection of date rape drugs, gamma-butyrolactone (GBL) and gamma-valerolactone (GVL), in addition to latent fingerprint detection. Both rape drug and latent fingerprint detection are important aspects of drug abuse-related crimes in forensic analysis.

A series of niobium oxyiodide compounds has recently been identified using a non-conventional reduction method. The continuation of these studies of heterogeneous solid-state reactions in a closed system has led to the crystallization and structural analysis of two novel compounds LiNbOI and NbOI(NbI). Both crystal structures are derived from the pentanuclear [NbO] cluster core and are expanded through the incorporation of additional niobium atoms, forming new [NbO] and [NbO] cluster cores.

Lithium metal batteries (LMBs) have emerged as the most promising candidate for next-generation high-energy-density energy storage systems. However, their practical implementation is hindered by the inability of conventional carbonate electrolytes to simultaneously stabilize the lithium metal anode and LiNiCoMnO (NCM811) cathode interfaces, particularly under extreme operating conditions. Herein, we present a transformative molecular design using 3,5-difluorophenylboronic acid neopentyl glycol ester (DNE), which uniquely integrates dual interfacial stabilization mechanisms in a single molecule.
