Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene (BTEX) and the aldehydes formaldehyde and acetaldehyde are toxic organic compounds. Currently, there is no single method for sampling and analyzing these compounds in environment air concurrently. We report here a microfabricated dual-compartment micropreconcentrator device that combines physical adsorption of BTEX with derivatization of aldehydes for analysis of all these compounds by GC-MS in a single run. The micropreconcentrator contains two compartments to accommodate two different sorbents. One compartment is packed with Carbopack X to trap BTEX and the other is filled with silica gel particles coated with O-(2,3,4,5,6-pentafluorobenzyl)hydroxylamine (PFBHA) to capture aldehydes via oximation. The captured compounds in the micropreconcentrator then are eluted with solvents and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The dual-compartment micropreconcentrator captures above 90 % of both BTEX and the above aldehydes. The limits of detection (LOD) for these compounds were determined in the range of 0.03-1.2 μg/m. The dual-compartment device was used to analyze airborne BTEX and carbonyl compounds in air samples.

Background: In 2019, seven county correctional facilities (jails) in Massachusetts initiated pilot programs to provide all Food and Drug Administration-approved medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD).
Methods: This observational study used linked state data to examine postrelease MOUD receipt, overdose, death, and reincarceration among persons with probable opioid use disorder (OUD) in carceral settings who did or did not receive MOUD from these programs from September 1, 2019, through December 31, 2020. Log-binomial and proportional-hazards models were adjusted for propensity-score weights and baseline covariates that remained imbalanced after propensity-score weighting.

Purpose: mutations are classically seen in non-small cell lung cancers (NSCLCs), and EGFR-directed inhibitors have changed the therapeutic landscape in patients with -mutated NSCLC. The real-world prevalence of -mutated ovarian cancers has not been previously described. We aim to determine the prevalence of pathogenic or likely pathogenic mutations in ovarian cancer and describe a case of -mutated metastatic ovarian cancer with a durable response to osimertinib, an EGFR-directed targeted therapy.

Hamigerans, a class of diterpenoid natural products isolated from marine sponge , are characterized by distinctive 6-6-5 or 6-7-5 tricyclic skeletons. These compounds have been a focal point for synthetic chemists in recent years due to their remarkable biological activities. In this Review, we summarize the progress made in the isolation, biosynthesis, bioactivity, and total synthesis of hamigerans, with particular emphasis on synthetic studies published since 2013.

The contamination of dental curing light tips was evaluated before and after treatment and after their use and disinfection. The influence of a plastic protective barrier over the flexural strength and the modulus of elasticity of resin composites were also analyzed. Microbiological sampling was conducted at initial contamination (T0), in Log 10 CFU/4 mL; after dental treatment (T1); and after disinfection with 70% ethanol (v/v) (T2).
