To search for and screen out effective antifungal lead compounds applicable to agriculture, a total of 21 tetrahydro--carboline derivatives were designed, synthesised, and evaluated for their antifungal activity. Based on biological studies, numerous compounds demonstrate notable antifungal properties . Specifically, compounds and showed higher efficacy against compared to carbendazim, with EC values of 16.43 mg/L and 12.72 mg/L, respectively. Additionally, compound exhibited exceptional antifungal activity against both and , achieving identical EC values of 12.71 mg/L for both pathogens. The results of this study will give reference for the additional design and structural optimisation of -carboalkaloids as possible agrochemical lead compounds for plant disease control.

Introduction: The objective of the World Health Organization is to achieve the interruption of human African trypanosomiasis (HAT) transmission by 2030.
Methods: This review aims to update knowledge on HAT, through a synthesis on the epidemiology, diagnostic tools and drugs of HAT.
Results: From 1960 to 2024 approximately 132,063 cases of HAT have been reported across Africa.

The catalytic asymmetric Mannich reaction is a multicomponent reaction which affords β-amino carbonyl compounds by utilizing an aldehyde, a primary or secondary amine/ammonia, and a ketone. β-amino carbonyl scaffolds are crucial intermediates for the synthesis of naturally occurring bioactive compounds and their derivatives. The synthesized natural compounds exhibit a broad spectrum of biological activities including anti-fungal, anti-cancer, anti-bacterial, anti-HIV, anti-oxidant, and anti-inflammatory activities.

Objective: This study was conducted to determine and compare the antioxidant, cytotoxic, and antimicrobial effects of spindle leaves of L. () (oleaster) leaves.
Methods: Total phenolic content was measured using the Folin-Ciocalteu method, phenolic compound analysis by liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-ESI-MS/MS) and antimicrobial effect by the minimum inhibition concentration (MIC) method.

Adults with short bowel syndrome (SBS), malabsorption, and malnutrition often require long-term parenteral nutrition (PN), typically as total PN (TPN). These patients are susceptible to bloodstream infections and sepsis. We present a case of a 63-year-old male patient who developed SBS following an acute mesenteric event.
