The rising prevalence of cardiac diseases necessitates advanced IoT-driven health monitoring systems for early detection and diagnosis. This study presents an efficient ECG-based cardiac disease prediction framework leveraging a multi-phase approach to enhance computational efficiency and classification accuracy. The Convolutional Lightweight Deep Auto-encoder Wiener Filter (CLDAWF) is employed for signal preprocessing, while the Quantized Discrete Haar Wavelet Transform (QD-HWT) extracts critical cardiac features, including P-wave fluctuations, QRS complex, and T-wave intervals. These refined features are classified using an optimized Epistemic Neural Network (ENN), whose parameters are fine-tuned via the Boosted Sooty Tern Optimization algorithm, improving accuracy and reducing system loss. The proposed model achieves 99.65% accuracy, demonstrating its effectiveness in real-time cardiac disease monitoring and offering a scalable, high-performance solution for IoT-based healthcare systems.

Background: Despite the Coronary Artery Reporting and Data System (CAD-RADS) providing a standardized approach, radiologists continue to favor free-text reports. This preference creates significant challenges for data extraction and analysis in longitudinal studies, potentially limiting large-scale research and quality assessment initiatives.
Objective: To evaluate the ability of the generative pre-trained transformer (GPT)-4o model to convert real-world coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) free-text reports into structured data and automatically identify CAD-RADS categories and P categories.

The hallmarks of mechanosensitive ion channels have been observed for half a century in various cell lines, although their mechanisms and molecular identities remained unknown until recently. Identification of the bona fide mammalian mechanosensory Piezo channels resulted in an explosion of research exploring the translation of mechanical cues into biochemical signals and dynamic cell morphology responses. One of the Piezo isoforms - Piezo1 - is integral in the erythrocyte (red blood cell; RBC) membrane.

Clonal hematopoiesis, originally identified as a precursor to hematologic malignancies, has emerged as a significant factor in various nonmalignant diseases. Recent research highlights how somatic mutations in hematopoietic stem cells lead to the expansion of circulating mutated immune cells that exert profound effects on organ function and disease progression. These mutated clones display altered inflammatory profiles and tissue-specific functional consequences, contributing to various diseases including atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, heart failure, and neurodegenerative conditions.

The objective of this study was to analyze the characteristics of avoidable mortality in the population aged five to 69 years living in the city of Pelotas/RS, comparing it with the rest of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, from 2000 to 2021. An ecological study was conducted analyzing avoidable mortality coefficients according to sex and age, from 2000 to 2021. The data source was the Mortality Information System, and the trend analysis was performed using Prais-Winsten regression, with standardization of coefficients.
