Background: Disruption of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) in high-grade brain tumors is characterized by contrast accumulation on diagnostic imaging. This window of opportunity study correlates contrast imaging features with the tumor distribution of BBB-permeable (levetiracetam) and -impermeable (cefazolin) drugs.

Methods: Patients with a clinical diagnosis of a high-grade brain tumor underwent MRI for surgical planning.

Objectives: Patients with connective tissue diseases (CTD) have a high incidence of cardiac involvement, which often presents insidiously and can progress rapidly, making it one of the leading causes of death. Multiparametric cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) provides a comprehensive quantitative evaluation of myocardial injury and is emerging as a valuable tool for detecting cardiac involvement in CTD. This study aims to investigate the correlations between CMR features and serological biomarkers in CTD patients, assess their potential clinical value, and further explore the impact of pre-CMR immunotherapy intensity on CMR-specific parameters, thereby evaluating the role of CMR in the early diagnosis of CTD-related cardiac involvement.

Aims: Skeletal muscle energetic augmentation might be a mechanism via which intravenous iron improves symptoms in heart failure, but no direct measurement of intrinsic mitochondrial function has been performed to support this notion. This molecular substudy of the FERRIC-HF II trial tested the hypothesis that ferric derisomaltose (FDI) would improve electron transport chain activity, given its high dependence on iron-sulfur clusters which facilitate electron transfer during oxidative phosphorylation.

Methods And Results: Vastus lateralis skeletal muscle biopsies were taken before and 2 weeks after randomization.

The Hidden Influence: Impacts of Residual Dimethylformamide in NDSB-211 on icIEF Separation for Monoclonal Antibodies.

September 2025

Therapeutics Development and Supply-Analytical Development, Janssen Research & Development, LLC, Malvern, Pennsylvania, USA.

Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) present analytical challenges due to their inherent heterogeneity and susceptibility to post-translational modifications (PTMs) during production and storage. Monitoring of charge heterogeneity profiles by imaged capillary isoelectric focusing (icIEF) has been aided by the use of non-detergent sulfobetaines (NDSBs), particularly NDSB-211, to enhance protein solubility and stability. When used in a quality control laboratory setting, NDSB-211 has shown performance variability over time due to residual manufacturing impurities that impact the capillary isoelectric focusing separation.

ObjectivesThe objective of this study was to evaluate the occurrence of voltage-gated potassium channel (VGKC) antibodies and the pattern of MRI changes in cats with complex partial seizures with orofacial involvement (CPSOFI), as well as to investigate whether there are factors influencing survival that could be used as prognostic markers in those cats.MethodsCats with CPSOFI were identified retrospectively. The following data were retrieved from the hospital database: signalment, age at first seizure and presentation, the presence of antibodies against VGKC (leucine-rich glioma inactivating factor 1 (LGI1), contactin-associated protein 2 (CASPR2)) and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis findings.
