This study explored the interplay between gastrointestinal nematode burden, blood parameters, and hair cortisol in Zerasca sheep, a local breed of Northeastern Tuscany (Italy). Moreover, the correlation between BCS and Eggs per Gram (EPG) was analyzed to verify the possible parasite impact. The study involved twelve ewes sampled for faeces, blood and wool three times, in the morning, from August 2022 to March 2023. Complete blood count, alanina-aminotransferase, aspartate-aminotransferase, nitrogen ureic, beta-hydroxybutyric acid, non-esterified fatty acids, total proteins, creatinine, calcium, chloride, potassium, and oxygen free radicals were analyzed. Fresh faecal samples were collected and subjected to the Mac Master technique for EPG. Wool was collected to quantify hair cortisol. BCS was recorded using a 1-5 scale. The ANOVA test was performed to detect differences in metabolic and immunological parameters, as well as hair cortisol levels, in relation to EPG levels. Non parametric correlation between EPG and BCS was conducted. Only red blood cells, haematocrit, mean corpuscular haemoglobin concentration, and calcium were significantly associated with EPG levels. Some parameters were outside the normal range. The correlation between BCS and EPG resulted negative and statistically significant. These results showed an overall well-being of the tested animals within this specific context.

Parental incarceration can be stressful for children, leading to less optimal development. Although parental incarceration typically takes place among other adversities, resilience processes occur in many families, for example, in instances of secure child-caregiver attachment relationships. Yet, it is not known how secure attachments are associated with stress processes in children with incarcerated parents, especially in the context of other risks.

Introduction: The aim of this study is to report the case of nonclassical congenital adrenal hyperplasia (NCAH) observed in a female child, and to present the management of the surgical-orthodontic rehabilitation, through clinical and histological oral findings.
Method: A 13-year-old female was referred to our department for dental evaluation. The patient was affected by NCAH, confirmed by hormonal and genetic analysis from the age of 6 years, due to the appearance of premature pubic hair.

This study aimed to develop a robust methodology for quantifying cortisol decay in segmented human hair and to establish accurate retrospective estimates of initial cortisol levels. Two independent probabilistic approaches were employed: i) a Bayesian multilevel analysis across 37 individuals with 3-6 hair segments each and ii) a Bayesian repeated sampling approach in a single individual with 10 segments collected over eight months. All hair segments were analyzed for cortisol concentration using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry with on-line solid phase extraction.
