Article Abstract

To explore the flavor related regulatory mechanisms of fresh × , a joint analysis of metabolome and transcriptome were utilized to compare the two typical × varieties with different flavors ('yuzhui' and 'pingou21') in this paper. The results showed that the genes including , , , , , , , , , were identified as responsible for regulating the levels of stachyose, manninotriose and raffinose in hazelnuts. CS and OGDH were deemed as the genes involved in the citric acid cycle, which was a central metabolic pathway that generated energy through the oxidation of carbohydrates, fats and proteins in hazelnuts. The genes , , , , , , , , , , were regarded as involved in the biosynthesis of various amino acids like tryptophan, valine, alanine, and arginine. These amino acids determined the taste of × and were important precursors of other flavor-related compounds. The genes , , and were viewed as involved in the regulation of lipid biosynthesis, specifically involving 13(S)-HPODE, 9,10,13-trihome and 13(S)-HOTrE in × . These findings highlight the significance of genes and metabolites and internal regulatory mechanisms in shaping the flavor of fresh × cultivated in temperate continents. This study provides the theoretical basis for breeding excellent food functional hazelnut varieties.

Biological sex influences the life course development of blood pressure, systemic arterial hypertension, and hypertension-associated complications through neural, hormonal, renal, and epigenetic mechanisms. Sex hormones influence blood pressure regulation through interaction with several main regulatory systems, including the autonomic nervous system, the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, endothelin, and renal mechanisms. The modulation of vascular function by sex hormones varies over the lifespan.

Sepsis-induced cardiomyopathy (SIC) is a serious complication of sepsis. The relationship between SIC and protein acetylation, particularly the balance between acetylation and deacetylation in cardiomyocyte subcellular structures, as well as how nuclear-mitochondrial coordination maintains standard antioxidant stress capacity, remains unclear. This study focused on exploring the nuclear-mitochondrial regulatory mechanisms formed by the interplay of Sirtuin 3 (SIRT3) and Forkhead box O3a (FOXO3a).

Phototaxis is a critical behavior in insects and is closely linked to vision and environmental adaptation. Understanding how insects perceive light and exhibit phototactic responses is crucial for assessing the ecological impact of artificial light at night. However, the molecular and neural mechanisms that regulate phototactic responses in insects remain largely unknown.

Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are emerging as pivotal regulators in gene expression networks, characterized by their structural flexibility and functional versatility. In plants, lncRNAs have gained increasing attention due to accumulating evidence of their roles in modulating developmental plasticity and agronomic traits. In this review, we focus on the origin, classification, and mechanisms of action of plant lncRNAs, with a particular emphasis on their involvement in developmental processes.

Background: PPM1D (protein phosphatase Mg⁺/Mn⁺ dependent 1D) is a Ser/Thr phosphatase that negatively regulates p53 and functions as an oncogenic driver. Its gene amplification and overexpression are frequently observed in various malignancies and disruption of PPM1D degradation has also been reported as a cause of cancer progression. However, the precise mechanisms regulating PPM1D stability remain to be elucidated.
