Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection poses significant challenges in solid organ transplant (SOT) recipients, impacting graft outcomes, morbidity, and in some cases survival. The ESOT CMV Workshop 2023 convened European experts to discuss current practices and advances in the management of CMV with the aim of improving the quality of life of transplant recipients. Discussions covered crucial areas such as preventive strategies, diagnostic challenges, therapeutic approaches, and the role of cell-mediated immunity (CMI) monitoring.

Background: Feline panleukopenia, caused by the highly lethal feline parvovirus (FPV), lacks effective prevention and treatment strategies. This study aimed to elucidate the key metabolic regulatory mechanisms during FPV infection.
Methods: CRFK cells were infected with the FPV013 strain.

LP-98 is a lipopeptide HIV fusion inhibitor showing strong treatment and pre-exposure prophylaxis efficacies in non-human primates. In this study, we further characterized its pharmacokinetics, long-lasting antiviral activity, and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) efficacy using 62 macaques. In cynomolgus macaques, LP-98 achieved high concentrations (C) with a half-life (T) of ∼31 h, and sustained an effective therapeutic concentration for two weeks post-injection.

Background: Current and past hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection remains the leading cause of liver cancer in endemic areas.
Aim: To examine the risk of HBV reactivation (HBVr) in patients receiving immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) for liver cancer.
Methods: Patients with current or past HBV infection receiving systemic treatments for liver cancer from March 2015 to March 2023 were identified using a territory-wide electronic database in Hong Kong.

A naturally derived library of glycomimetic mimicking the structure-function of heparan sulfate (HS) remains an untapped reservoir for drug discovery against viral infections. In this work we screened a library of marine-derived sulfated glycans from seaweeds and sea cucumbers to investigate if they can compete for the ligand/receptor binding sites to prevent virus entry. Multiple promising candidates were identified, such as RPI-27 (IC: 1.
