Objective: To review the contributions to the ophthalmic research from the SAARC region in the top twenty ophthalmology journals.
Methods: This was a bibliometric study and the top 20 ophthalmology journals, as ranked by the Scimago Journal Rankings (SJR) from 2021 and 2022 (two years), were selected for analysis. Only original research articles were included in the analysis. Articles were analysed based on authorship, corresponding authorship, and research centres within the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) region (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka). The main research topics were also examined. This data was recorded on Microsoft excel sheet and then descriptive analysis were calculated.
Results: Of the total 4952 articles reviewed, 208 (4.2%) had authorship from the SAARC region. Of the 38079 authors in total, 1133 (2.97%) were from the SAARC region and 715 (63.1%) were male. The authors from India contributed the most (n=1074, 94.8%) articles. Of the 155 corresponding authors from SAARC, 150 (96.78%) were from India. Research centres from India were the leading contributors, (n=166, 93.26%). Out of all the publications, medical retina accounted for 1546 (31.22%) of the total articles.
Conclusions: Compared to its share of the world's population, the SAARC region's research contribution to the top twenty ophthalmology journals is nominal.

BRCA1/2 germline variants account for 5-10 % of breast cancers (BC) or up to 25 % of hereditary breast cancers, yet data on their prevalence in South Asia and the Middle East remains limited. This study investigates germline BRCA1/2 pathogenic variants (PVs) in eight South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) and six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, providing insights into the regional mutation landscape. Systematic literature search identified 46 studies and all reported BRCA1/2 variants from each study were re-interpreted using ClinVar and BRCA Exchange to determine pathogenicity.

Introduction: The reported incidence of pediatric facial fractures is relatively low, within age limits of up to 5 years, whereas prevalence increases in children and adolescents. Considering the active growth that takes place in children, maxillofacial trauma can have deleterious effects if it involves growth centers present in the facial region and may lead to disability, morbidity as well as major financial consequences linked to the surgical procedures and hospital stay.
Aim Of The Study: The present study aimed to evaluate the relative frequency of maxillofacial traumatic injuries in the SAARC countries, examine their demographic features, and recognize the etiological agents and various management strategies employed.

Declared as one of the ten most pressing threats to global health in 2019, the complexity around vaccine acceptance and hesitancy has once again gained great momentum following the COVID-19 pandemic. Lack of vaccine acceptance may endanger the mission of improving vaccine uptake globally to tackle pandemics, reduce morbidity and mortality of preventable diseases and to prevent antibiotic resistance worldwide. Countries of the global south, including South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries are especially affected by the dangers of low vaccination uptake and continue to show decreases in coverage in recent years.

Objective: The objective of this study is to present a cross-sectional analysis of cancer burden in the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) region and explain unique characteristics of its cancer burden as compared with the rest of the world.
Methods And Analysis: Using publicly available data from the Global Cancer Observatory (GCO) and the World Bank, we collected cancer statistics and population statistics for Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka from 2017 to 2022.
Results: The number of newly diagnosed cases in the region was 1 846 963, representing 9.
