Focal capillary ectasia in the macular region can manifest in distinct clinical scenarios, which can be categorized into 2 main entities: perifoveal vascular anomalous complex (PVAC) and telangiectatic capillaries (TelCaps). PVAC represents a primary, idiopathic condition, whereas TelCaps occur secondary to underlying vascular disorders, including diabetic macular edema and retinal vein occlusion. We provide a comprehensive analysis of these 2 entities, encompassing their clinical presentations, multimodal imaging findings, histological evidence, and differential diagnosis from other retinal microvascular abnormalities, such as Type 1 macular telangiectasia, adult-onset Coats disease, Type 3 macular neovascularization in age-related macular degeneration, and retinal arterial macroaneurysms. Although PVAC and TelCaps are distinct entities, they may share common pathogenic mechanisms, including progressive endothelial dysfunction, pericyte loss, and intraluminal deposition of blood components. Selective laser photocoagulation has emerged as a promising therapeutic approach for both conditions. The proposed standardization of nomenclature for accurate reporting and meaningful cross-study comparisons is expected to facilitate future advancements in this field, ultimately leading to improved patient outcomes.

Methods: A total of 34 eyes were included: seven with primary LRCA and 27 with secondary LRCA. All patients underwent fundus photography, optical coherence tomography (OCT), and fundus fluorescein angiography.

This study aims to compare retinal vascular characteristics between ApoE ε4 carriers and non-carriers in healthy individuals. A total of 84 cognitively healthy subjects-64 non-carriers and 20 carriers of the ApoE ε4 allele-were analyzed using swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography (SS-OCTA). In the retinal vascular layer of OCTA images, parameters such as foveal avascular zone (FAZ) area, vessel perimeter, acircularity index (AI), and vascular density (FD) were quantified.

Purpose: To analyze the short-term effects of hypergravity on ocular parameters, particularly retinal and peripapillary microvasculature changes, in participants undergoing human centrifuge training.
Methods: This prospective, observational study enrolled healthy trainees who participated in centrifuge training at the National Army GangShan Aviation Training Center, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan, from August to September 2023. Ocular data were collected at four time points: 24 hours before training, immediately after, and 15 and 30 minutes after exposure to gravitational force along the head-to-foot axis.

Materials And Methods: A total of 47 severe (Group 1), 30 moderate (Group 2), and 25 mild (Group 3) OSA patients and 51 healthy volunteers (Group 4) were included. Total, parafoveal, perifoveal superficial (SCP), and deep capillary plexus (DCP) vascular densities, foveal avascular zone (FAZ) and blood flow of choriocapillaris and outer retina were evaluated.
