Exploring the emulsification of myofibrillar protein (MP) from large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea) could meet the demand for high-value development and utilization of fish proteins. Therefore, MPs as the emulsifier to form stable high internal-phase Pickering emulsions (HIPPEs) with the addition of glycerol and the effects of different glycerol addition ratios of HIPPEs were investigated. HIPPEs could be constructed by MPs with the glycerol addition at a ratio of 15 %-30 % (v/v) compared to those without the addition of glycerol. With the increase in glycerol ratios, the absolute value of Zeta potential increased and reached 22.57 ± 0.29 mV at the glycerol ratio of 30 %. All the HIPPEs stabilized by MPs with the addition of glycerol possessed storage stability. Besides, the centrifugal stability constant (Ke), backscattered light intensity and reflected light stability index confirmed that the addition of glycerol was beneficial for the formation of stable HIPPEs prepared by MPs. Additionally, HIPPEs stabilized by MPs with the addition of glycerol possessed small emulsion droplets and viscoelastic behavior. These findings could be helpful for the development and utilization of MPs of large yellow croaker in the food industry.

Introduction: Traditional hydrogels with poor mechanical properties and lack of biological activities severely limit their application in wound therapy. Designing multifunctional hydrogels for monitoring and accelerating wound healing remains imperative.
Objectives: The aim of this study is to develop a multifunctional antifreeze ionic conductive Gel-TBA@organohydrogel with antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties for monitoring and wound treatment.

This study explores the use of plant-derived polysaccharides to develop bio-based films for food-packaging applications. A film-forming solution composed of Prosopis nigra biopolymer (PN-B), carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), and glycerol was optimized by central composite design (CCD), resulting in two formulations: P1 and P11. The films were subsequently functionalized with silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) synthesized via chemical and biological routes.

This research provides a constructive approach for developing high-performance polymer nanohybrids toward enhancing optoelectronic properties, fluorogenic viscosity sensing, and metal-free electrocatalytic oxidation of glycerol to value-added organic(s). Herein, reduced graphene oxide (RGO) and mildly oxidized RGO (MRGO) are strategically combined with fluorescent electroactive polymers (FEPs) to develop a promising sustainable metal-free electrocatalytic system suitable for amplifying opto-electrochemical properties, multiplatform sensing capacity, and electrocatalytic efficiency. The optimized polymeric counterpart (FEP2) promotes dual-state emission in the supramolecular network of RGO-/MRGO-incorporated fluorescent electroactive hybrid polymers (RFEHPs/MFEHPs) through physicochemically confined atypical electron-rich -C(═O)NH-/-C(═O)O-/-SOH fluorophores of (hydroxyethyl)methacrylate and 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane-1-sulfonic acid monomers.

Antibody production in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell culture was enhanced by supplementing the culture medium with barley shochu distillation by-product supernatant (BX2). To predict antibody production following BX2 addition, fed-batch culture experiments were conducted under varying BX2 conditions using a response surface methodology. BX2 supplementation was predicted to improve antibody production by 138 %, 146 %, 120 %, and 240 % in IgG-producing CHO-MK1, CHO-MK2, CHO-DG44, and Fc-fusion protein-producing CHO-DG44 cells, respectively, compared to controls without BX2.

Microalgae are a rich source of high-value natural products. The green microalga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii has long been used as a model organism for studying lipid metabolism in photosynthetic organisms. Here, we comprehensively characterized the enzymatic activity and substrate preferences of the plastidial glycerol-3-phosphate:acyl-CoA acyltransferase (GPAT1) from C.
