This study explores the use of plant-derived polysaccharides to develop bio-based films for food-packaging applications. A film-forming solution composed of Prosopis nigra biopolymer (PN-B), carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), and glycerol was optimized by central composite design (CCD), resulting in two formulations: P1 and P11. The films were subsequently functionalized with silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) synthesized via chemical and biological routes.

Background: Postharvest lemons are affected by several fungal infections, and as alternatives to chemical fungicides for combating these infections, different microbial biocontrol agents have been studied, with the Clavispora lusitaniae 146 strain standing out. Although strain 146 has proven to be an effective agent, the influence of a microbial biological control agent on the postharvest lemon microbiome has not been studied until now. Wastewater-based epidemiology provides temporal and spatial information about the health status of a population. The objective of this study was to analyze and report the epidemiological dynamics of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in the province of Tucumán, Argentina during the second and third waves of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) between April 2021 and March 2022. The study aimed to quantify SARS-CoV-2 RNA in wastewater, correlating it with clinically reported COVID-19 cases.

Blueberry production is affected by fungal postharvest pathogens, including and , the causative agents of gray mold disease and Alternaria rot, respectively. Biocontrol agents adapted to blueberries and local environments are not known to date. Highly contaminated γ-hexachlorocyclohexane (lindane) areas were reported worldwide. Low aqueous solubility and high hydrophobicity make lindane particularly resistant to microbial degradation.
