Article Abstract

Three-factor models of narcissism (Agentic, Neurotic, and Antagonistic Narcissism) have gained widespread recognition in the field. The Five-Factor Narcissism Inventory (FFNI) stands out as the most comprehensive and only tool to date that assesses all three narcissism domains. However, its validation in Chinese culture and forensic contexts remains largely unexplored. With community ( = 578) and offender ( = 726) samples from China, we examined 60-, 30-, and 15-item versions of the Chinese FFNI in terms of internal structure, external associates, and consistency across samples and versions. Our findings demonstrate acceptable internal consistencies and structural validity of each version of the Chinese FFNI, albeit with minor deviations in the Neurotic Narcissism factor. The FFNI demonstrated good cross-sample and cross-version consistency. These results suggest the utility of the FFNI in Chinese samples and suggest some comparability across community and offender groups. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2025 APA, all rights reserved).

Research on personality and sexuality has increased over the last few decades, especially using basic trait models-Five Factor Model and HEXACO-and clinical personality constructs-particularly borderline, narcissism, and psychopathy. Spanning five broad aspects of sexuality, research shows that basic and clinical personality traits are associated with sexual motivation, sexual behavior, sexual affect and cognition, sexual orientation, and clinical sexual problems. Different personality trait dimensions are reliably associated with specific aspects of sexuality, which points to theoretical and practical implications.

The Five-Factor Narcissism Inventory-Short Form (FFNI-SF) is the only extant scale that efficiently measures narcissism at the three-factor level (antagonism, agentic extraversion, and narcissistic neuroticism). This study extends socioanalytic and self-control theory to grandiose narcissism in the vocational career context with a special focus on attained workplace status and career satisfaction. In a sample of N = 406 target-coworker multisource datasets, and target workers with several decades of vocational experience, grandiose narcissism assessed with the Five-Factor Narcissism Inventory negatively relates to workplace status, and indirectly to career satisfaction via workplace status, when political skill is low. However, good political skill enables individuals on the higher end of the grandiose narcissism scale to control their antagonistic behavioral tendencies and present their agentic ambitions in a more appropriate manner, mitigating the negative (indirect) association with workplace status and career satisfaction.
