Objectives: This study investigated the cardioprotective effects of stachydrine (STA) in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced septic mice and H9c2 cardiomyocytes, focusing on its anti-apoptotic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-ferroptotic actions.
Methods: We established an LPS-induced sepsis model in mice and an LPS-stimulated H9c2 cardiomyocyte model in vitro.
Results: STA markedly reduced LPS-induced myocardial apoptosis, as demonstrated by decreased TUNEL-positive cells, and attenuated the elevation of serum cardiac injury markers, including creatine kinase-MB (CK-MB), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), cardiac troponin I (cTnI), and cardiac troponin T (cTnT) levels.

Post-transplant rejection surveillance remains a cornerstone of heart transplant care. Although endomyocardial biopsy (EMB) has long been the gold standard for detecting rejection, its invasive nature, interobserver variability in histologic interpretation, and limitations in distinguishing between acute cellular rejection (ACR) and antibody-mediated rejection have prompted interest in noninvasive techniques. Traditional biomarkers- such as troponin, C-reactive protein, brain natriuretic peptide, and donor-specific antibodies- offer supplementary assessments of graft function but lack the specificity and sensitivity required to be standalone markers.

Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease remains one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide, accounting for approximately 3.9 million deaths annually due to its complications. This single-center, retrospective cohort study included 109 patients who underwent coronary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) between April and July 2022 at the Cardiology Clinic of the County Emergency Clinical Hospital in Targu Mureș, Romania.

Objective: This study aimed to describe healthcare utilisation and costs associated with the assessment of suspected acute coronary syndrome (ACS) under standard care and to compare these outcomes with the Limit of Detection in Emergency Department (LEGEND) strategy, an accelerated diagnostic pathway identifying low-risk patients using a single highly sensitive troponin (hs-cTnI).
Method: A stepped-wedge cluster randomised trial was conducted in four Queensland hospitals. Each transitioned from standard care (2016 ACS guidelines) to the LEGEND intervention at randomised intervals.

The insulin-like growth factor binding protein, acid-labile subunit (IGFALS), plays a crucial role in glucose metabolism and immune regulation, key processes in recovery from surgery. Here, we studied the perioperative serum IGFALS dynamics and explored potential clinical implications. A total of 79 patients undergoing elective cardiac surgery with implementation of cardiopulmonary bypass had their serum isolated at baseline, 24 h, seven days, and three months postoperatively to assess serum concentrations of IGFALS and insulin growth factor 1 (IGF-1).
